 CELESTRON INTRODUCES PERSONAL LOCATOR GPS TOOL (AT CES 2011)

Celestron's reTrace Lite (Suggested Retail Price: $49) and reTrace Deluxe (Suggested Retail Price: $99) is an easy-to-use GPS device helping travelers, campers, sports and outdoor enthusiasts, joggers and others not get lost. The reTrace GPS is a personal locator with a built-in digital compass that measures the distances to waypoints a user sets to find their way back to a target location. reTrace works anywhere in the world where a GPS signal can be received. The device also features an altimeter, barometer, temperature and real time display.

From The Giz Wiz: Browsing through the instructions, I think you'll see it's not quite as easy as one might hope. And shortly after this device was introduced smartphones started doing the exact same thing for free, or for just a couple of bucks. The reTrace still shows up online, sometimes at higher prices than it originally sold for, but it is not longer offered by Celestron.

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I canemail an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!
