Giz Wiz Show 1754 November 21, 2019 Independent Show #236

Wow! The Giz Wiz Show is in year 13 overall & our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. Thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!

This week I have three gadgets from Pepcom's “Well NOW!” event. That's a media event all about gadgets for health & well-being.

You probably wouldn't associate Black + Decker with an at-home medical device, but they have launched Pria,a new automated medication management system. It's designed for loved ones who desire to maintain independence while staying connected to their families. Pria is a voice-enabled tabletop device that can let care givers know if loved ones at home have been taking their proper medication. It verifies identification through facial recognition or a PIN code, Pria before dispensing a scheduled dose into the pill cup. There's a back-up battery so the device can work during a blackout. Pria can hold 28 dozes of medication. It does require WiFi and a mobile phone, iOS or Android. Everything is managed through their mobile app. You can schedule up to 28 medication doses, provide reminder alerts, and automatically dispense medication at the scheduled time. It also provides the user with fast access to family or care givers with a simple voice command. The device has a built-in screen, camera and microphone for two-way video calls. In addition to checking in on medication dosing, you can schedule reminders for other things, like to drink water. It's also easy to video call a family member from afar, all through their mobile app. Now this new product is not inexpensive. Pria by BLACK+DECKER is $749.99 plus a $9.99 monthly subscription fee. For a limited time it is $599.99 with 6 months of free service, for a saving of about $210. The company does not say when that offer will end.
