Chad's Crappy Corner and a brand new theme for September.

Chad polled our devoted Patreon members and for his September theme they picked “Cheap Hobby Gadgets”. But, for the first time ever, Amazon didn't deliver Chad's first 'hobby' gadget in time for this show. Luckily Chad had a 'sleep gadget' he never used left over from a past theme, so he did that. Cheap Hobby Gadgets starts in ernest next week!
Meet the ZzzBand Pilot Created Travel Pillow Alternative. Here's what Amazon says about it: Designed and created by an airline pilot as an alternative to neck pillows and travel pillows to eliminate pilot fatigue while deadheading in coach. ZzzBand eliminates neck pain and head bobs providing a more restful sleep by gently supporting your head and neck in a comfortable neutral alignment. The innovative features include an integrated adjustable strap that is placed behind the adjustable head rest found on most aircraft (not the seat back), as well as an incorporated eye cover that rests lightly over your eyes and folds up when not sleeping. Made from lightweight fleece material, ZzzBand will not leave any skin imprints, and does not affect eye makeup. ZzzBand is effective when your head closely aligns with the attachment point on the headrest. Hand wash and hang dry. It is lightweight, compact, affordable, comfortable and most importantly, it works! $19.99. Free shipping, but not Amazon Prime.
And Chad's take? Chad never tried using this gadget on an airplane and when you look at the photo, I think you'll see why. As you'll also see in this week's video of the show, it's a rather weird device. Chad said it does block out the light, but do you really want to sleep with your head held in place by a strap attached to the headrest of your airplane seat? Another problem expressed by one reviewer was that he rarely got on a airplane that had the headrest needed to actually attach and use the ZzzBand Travel Pillow Alternative. I asked if the straps were long enough to go around the entire seat back if the plane you were on didn't have the type of headrest shown in the photo. Chad streched the strings out for us, and no, they are not long enough to use. So it's a 'no-buy' recommendation from Chad.
