Back to Dick’s Gadget Warehouse for a look at the StikAx.

It’s CES 2005 and Ministry of Sound introduces their new StikAx. This is a semi-strange looking hand-held music and video mixer. It lets you create audio and video mixes just by pushing a button – well actually there are nine buttons. Not to worry, StikAx says no DJ experience is/was required. You would download the included software and assign audio or video clips to each of the nine buttons. You can then could create your new masterpiece on the fly – but remember you’re still connected to the computer with the USB cable. You could enhance your work by using professional effects and settings. The company says StikAx is like holding a complete studio in your hands. Want to make your creation even more unique? (Or perhaps, more annoying?) With a USB mic you could record your own voice and add that in. StikAx connects to any PC and controls most multi-track audio and video sequencing programs. I must admit it seemed to me that this device had a rather large set-up and learning curve. But I bet people who wanted to create audio & video montages found it amazing. A quick look on Amazon showed rave reviews. It retailed for $150, and it seems you can still buy one for $100.
