Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video & Get An Autographed MAD Magazine!

Our viewer video this week was from Buddy Yates who has provided us with a few videos before, some of them quite amazing because he loves to change the background as he walks and talks. Here's his latest email:

    Hey Dicky D and OMGChad-

Buddy Yates from Palm Springs again. Attached is a YouTube link for a 2 minute video for an IOT gadget that mounts in your laundry dryer and sends notifications to your phone. I didn’t expect it to work but it works very well.

Thanks for being there.  Buddy Yates

                                   ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
    -
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
    -
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
    -
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
    -
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

On this week's show we finish Toy Fair 2020 with three final fun gadgets!

New for 2020: Thames & Kosmos Creatto Kits.

With CREATTO, you can design and construct illuminated, three-dimensional creations that literally light up your life! The kit includes flexible yet durable interlocking plastic tiles and a string of LED lights that you can piece together to make animals, decorations, or your own custom creations. Each set includes an illustrated manual with easy, step-by-step instructions for multiple designs, but the building possibilities are nearly limitless using your imagination. Kits start at about $10 and go up to about $60 for the biggest kit, which is the shark kit. The small kits are battery operated, while the bigger kits use AC power. Suitable for ages 8 to adult.

Meet The Geeek Club. (Yes, with three "e's")

Here's info via this new company: Welcome to Geeek Club, the easy and FUN way to gain engineering skills. It’s no secret, engineering is one of the single most valuable skillsets you can have in this day and age. For anyone who wants to work on their inventor muscles, there’s no better way to start! Develop your technical abilities without boring yourself to tears with courses and textbooks. Imagine a world where light is the only available power source, and robots scour the land in search of the precious energy to keep them going. Those robots would function in a very similar way to these nano-smart bots! With light sensors and vibro-motors, these robots will intelligently move toward any light source, giving you endless amusement and an amazing conversation starter. Their size makes them the perfect décor for your office desk and kids love playing with these bite-sized robots.

Here's their kickstarter page where kits were still available for as little as $99 as of 3/20/20

Another visit to the wonderful Folkmanis Puppets.

No Toy Fair coverage is complete without a stop at Folkmanis Puppets. Their puppets bring smiles to everybody and fires the imagination of kids and older folks too. I love seeing and interacting with their clever and elegantly made puppets. We show a few of the new puppets released for 2020 and then Chad explores their website when you can find a whole world of puppets from finger puppets from under $10 to recreations of the first Walt Disney released Mickey & Minnie mouse puppets.

Chad's Crappy Corner & his new March Theme as voted on by our loyal Patreons.

Chad polled our loyal Patreon and ask them to vote on a new Crappy Corner theme for March. They picked "Cheap Gadgets For When You're Ill”.

Chad's gadget this is The Sneeve? What's The Sneeve? Okay, you taught your kids to cough and sneeze into their elbows, just like the Centers For Disease Control recommends. But admit it, it’s a little gross. Now, there’s The Sneeve. The absorbent, disposable little sleeve that catches the yucky stuff. Keeps it from spreading. And prevents clothing from becoming a landing pad. Slightly stretchy, soft, comfortable and safe. With an antimicrobial that kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria on contact. For $9.99 you get 7 Disposable Sneeves. The company says their antiviral sleeve kills 99.9% of germs & protects clothes from yucky stuff. Buy two or more packages of The Sneeve and receive free priority shipping. All orders placed before 3PM will be shipped on the same business day.

Chad's take on this gadget: Chad liked it a lot. Reasonable cost, kids will probably use it because it's like wearing a special badge or something like that. His only complaint; it's sized only for kids. He'd like it if  they also made a bigger version for adults to use.

http://www.thesneeve.com/  UPDATE: The Giz Wiz ordered 3 packages of these. They never were shipped & the company phone is not a working number. BEWARE!
