Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.

Our email of the week is from Michael Prine who has sent us fun videos before.

    He writes:

Here is the link to another of my Y2K devices that I have sitting around. It is a hand power flashlight. No batteries required and unlike some of the ones you have tried, it works. It doesn't put out a lot of light and your hand gets tired pretty quickly but thought I would share it.

There are still a lot of hand cranked flashlights around but I think the winding handle type is far easier to use. And if you buy one, it should have a battery to store extra power as you crank.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
    -
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
    -
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
    -
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
    -
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Black + Decker Introduces The Kitchen Wand.

It's a bit in the future, coming out in July, but here's a preview look! The single Black+Decker Kitchen Wand can use a Milk Frother Attachment, Can Opener Attachment, 2-in-1 Salt and Pepper Grinder Attachment, Wine Opener Attachment, Whisk Attachment and the Immersion Blender Attachment. Fully charged it has about 30 minutes of cordless runtime. The folks at the Black + Decker booth said the Kitchen Wand will be available starting July, 2022. They’ll be three color color options for wand and three ways to buy it. The complete 6-piece kit with all the attachments listed above and the rechargeable wand will retail for $199.99. A 3-piece kit will sell for $129.99. Or the 1-piece kit is $99 and you can purchase the attachments you want separately. (But of course you save money by buying the kits. You'll see it open a wine bottle in seconds on this week's show.

Insects Like Your Skin? Here's A Way To Take The “Bite Away”

I'm a prime target for mosquitos in NYC, so I was very interested to find out about Bite Away. Here's how to use it as described by the company: Place the ceramic contact surface of Bite Away on the bite or sting. Hold for just 5 seconds (3 seconds for sensitive skin). Bite Away will reach a temperature of about 124°F. This localized pulse of heat can trigger a response from the body that reduces itching, pain, and swelling. It may take a few minutes for the swelling to fully subside, but the irritation, itchiness and other bug bite symptoms will likely be gone in no time. Since it's unseasonably cold in NYC, there are no mosquitoes yet, but I asked for a demo on my arm to feel the heat. The spokesperson at the booth turned my arm over so I could feel it on the thinner, more sensitive skin. I did the 5 second version and yes, I did feel the tip get hot. It's not enough to burn, and it's said to be FDA approved with an fail-safe overheat monitor. You don't have to time the treatment, the device shuts off at the proper time once you press either "on" button. The contact surface is ceramic and there are no chemicals involved. The only thing not mentioned at Pepcom, but listed in the instructions is “remove the stinger before applying the device”. It's said to work on many kinds of insect bites and stings. It runs on 2 AA batteries and is said to be good for up to 300 applications before a battery change is needed. It's (fat) pen-sized for travel & storage. It's $29.95 and has done well on Amazon with 4.2 out of 5 stars from more than 4500 verified buyers. It's also available at other retailers.
