Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video And Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.

Our viewer video this week is from Chilly Kitty and she is sending us her first, and hopefully not last video. Here's Chilly's email:

    Hi Dick

Well, it took me over a year to organise myself and my courage, but we finally did a video!

Hope it’s ok and it gets to you all the way from Australia ๐Ÿ˜‰

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
    -
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
    -
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
    -
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
    -
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

    Email of the week!

One of my oldest gadgets still in use.

    Hi Dick,

I've been using this cheap mechanical pencil for over 60 years. I bought it when I was in high school and it still functions as new. I think I bought it from the defunct Woolworths (UK) for not much money. Looking at modern versions of the mechanical pencil you can see how little the design has changed, which proves the point that if a design works, don’t fix.

    Cheers from London, Malcolm Smith

It's officially summer, and here's a great LED Lantern for camping out!

It's the Leacco Camping Lantern. Not onlywould this be great for camping, but also as an emergency light during power outages, or even for backyard evening BBQ's, etc. The design is functional while offering a nice vintage-look. MSRP: $49.99, but there is/was a $20 off coupon there.

tepless dimming which offers a soft, warm, unobtrusive glow, and 360° Illumination. But if you need more light and a brighter light, crank the knob up to high and two white LED's also come on. With a fully charged battery, the low setting is said to last for up to 130 hours and the high setting for 8 hours. And yes, it charges via USB-C! It's IPX4 which is resistant to splashes. The company says the case is stainless steel and the charging port has a rubber boot to protect it from getting wet. Even though it has a 5000 mAh battery, it doesn't offer charging out. There's also a convenient handle for carrying or to use if you want to hang it up.

Need Help Hearing The Wake-Up Alarm In The Morning?

If you have trouble waking up, this clock with loud alarm and bed shaker puck should help a lot! Also great for seniors or anyone with impaired hearing. There are 3 wake modes; choose, bed shaker/buzzer/both. You can place the bed shaker under your pillow without disturbing other with a loud audible alarm. If you want an alarm, the volume can be adjustable by volume slider, 3 levels from low (75dB) to high (90dB). If you want there's also a nightlight with a choice of 7 colors. The nightlight bar acts as the snooze button when your alarm sounds. It's preset for 9 minutes more sleep. The time display brightness has a slider which you can adjusted from 0%-100%. So if you want the clock face to be totally dark, you can. The entire display is 7”, while the time numerals are 2” high, but on the fully black background they really stand out. Back wait, there's more! They are dual DC 5V/1A USB charging ports on the back of the clock. A battery backup (uses 2 AAA's, not included) keeps the time in memory during a power failure. And – this is clever, it will still sound the wake-up alarm for the set time, even if the power is still off! (But it won't use the bed vibrator, even if it's set.) display goes black without worrying getting up late. $23.99 as on 6/22/22.

The Giz Wiz Buys A Gadget Inspired By A Gadget Chad Recently Showed.

On a recent Giz Wiz Show Chad showed a water pistol that hooked up to a canteen filled with water. I joked that you could probably use that to water plants. Then later I wondered if anyone make a large size water container with a device to spray. Looking on Amazon, it turns out LOTS of company's do. It may be that because living in NYC all my life I never knew such things existed. I'm glad they do and I found one I can use. I bought CHAPIN 20000 Garden Sprayer. It's their smallest at 1 gallon, but they also make a 2 & 3 gallon version. It looks like the 3 versions are similar. They have a funnel-top and translucent tank for easy filling and cleaning. I bought the smallest because I can fill it at my kitchen sink. Also a gallon of water weighs 8.3 according to what I found on the Internet, so it's easier to carry around. But my guess is most people with want to use them with common fertilizers, weed killers and pesticides. According to the company, that's definitely a use for this device. The kit includes a 12-inch wand, 34-inch hose, adjustable nozzle and comfortable spray handle. The ergonomic handle is for pumping (to create pressure in the tank) and you carry it with the same handle. Something not mentioned anywhere that I could find, is why you can't insert the withdrawal hose into the tank. It looks like there's a small filter on the end of the hose, but I discovered it just protects the end of the hose in shipping. Because once I removed it, it easily slid into the tank.

Chad's Crappy Corner and his next 'cheap gadget' theme for June.

Chad's Cheap Gadget Theme For June, picked by our loyal Patreons, is Cheap Summertime Gadgets.

Chad's 4th Cheap Summertime Gadget is the Nevlers Inflatable Lounger with Side Pockets and Matching Bag.

From Amazon: Waterproof and Portable - Take to The Beach, Park, Pool, and as a Camping Accessory. Lounger has 3 side pockets to conveniently hold your favorite book, magazine, drink, or phone. We also include a stake to keep your beach chairs securely in place. To inflate, all you need to do is unroll it, whisk it through the air (you may need to do this step a couple of times to fill it up completely), roll it, and snap it closed. It's that easy and you get a very comfortable chaise lounge. No pump needed. Capable of holding up to 450 lbs.

Nevlers Inflatable Lounger Chair offers you a hassle-free guarantee and 3 year warranty.

And Chad's take: Chad liked this, but wasn't overwhelmed with it, comfort-wise. It seems you almost have to lay down in it, because it's difficult to use it as a seat. Inflating it by running seems to work pretty well and you'll see Chad do that on this week's show. Also the price isn't bad at about $25.00 and it's available in many different colors.
