Gadgets From 'Dick's Gadget Warehouse' I Talked About With Will Ganss on World News Now.

If you missed the spot on air, it's here on ABC News:

https://abcnews.go.com/WNN/video/timeless-gadgets-79213889

Did you own any these gadgets back when they were 'high tech marvels'?

Casio QV-10 - 1996.

1st Consumer digital camera under $1,000.

Introductory price was $650.00. Amazing 2MB

of non-removable memory. No flash and

resolution of 320 X 240. Could store up to 96

pictures. But you could use the camera to take

a selfie because the lens could flip over!

Sony Walkman Cassette Player 1979.

42 years old as of July 2021. Featured

in Guardians in the Galaxy, the price of

these on eBay, used, can range from $500

to $1200.00. $200 in 1979 = more than

$740.00 today. A “Mic” button let a person

talk to you over your headphones without

taking them off.

iPod Nano 4 GB First Gen -Sept 2005

1000 songs in your pocket like the original

iPod, but at 1/5th the size! $249.00

Junghans World's 1st radio-controlled

production clock for private use.

1985. About $175. It checked with the

Boulder Colorado master clock once

every 24 hours, but mostly it couldn't

connect, so it wasn't very accurate at

my location.

Will Ganss & I Try Some Great Outdoor Gadgets, Where Else, But Outdoors In The Park!

If you missed the spot on World News Now, it's here on the ABC website:  https://abcnews.go.com/WNN/video/outdoor-summer-gadgets-78795869

Will & I wanted to be refreshed on our ABC News shoot, so we brought along with a really compact rechargeable portable blender, called Vaeqozva! (That name sounds like it was created by throwing an alphabet into a blender!). Here's a bit of info from Amazon & us: So you don't have to carry an extra cup to drink from where your blended drink is ready, the lid has a direct-drinking function. Drink from it, like a normal water bottle, directly through the mouth on the bottle cap. If you want to share the drink, just pop in one of the two included silicone straws and enjoy. A lot of other blenders offer a 2000 mAh battery, this one says it has two 2000 mAh, or twice some of the others. We found this portable blender can easily liquidized fruit (cut to 1/2 to 1" pieces) and even small ice cubes. (Yes, we did that!) The company says you can expect 20-25 cups of juice can be squeezed on a full charge. The blender body is made of the same Tritan material as baby bottles. Built-in mechanical safety device so blender won't turn on if the components are not properly assembled. I like this blender a lot. Prices are were about $26 to $36, with the price changing by the color blender you picked. When I bought mine, I liked the yellow version best, and I paid about $28. Prices can change by the minute on Amazon, though!

Two Of My Newest Fans.

Figrol NeckfanI bought two neck fans during a really bad heat wave in June 2021 in NYC. Day after day of 90+ degree weather and high humidity. Air conditioning in my apartment and Gizneyland studio kept me comfortable inside, but I need something for the outdoors. A quick check of Amazon and I found "neck fans"! The Giz Wiz  covered mini fans you wore around your neck a couple of years ago, but these look way more sleek. They're sometimes called 'bladeless fans' because you don't see any moving part; everything is the built into the case. One of models I bought has a bigger battery and a higher price. It's the Jisulife that says it has a 4000 mAh rechargeable battery. Other than that the specs look pretty similar. The design of each however is fairly different. You can watch the video to see what they look like whenJisulife Neckfanworn. The Figrol has a 2400 mAh rechargeable battery and charges via USB-C. They both have 3 speeds and should do a fairly decent job of keeping you cool. I like the look of the Figrol a bit more, but it's bigger and weighs a bit more. In the video you'll see the Figrol and the Jisulife. You can judge for yourself when you see both in the video. Will is wearing the Jisulife, the green one. They retail from about $26  to $39.99 each. The price and availability is rapidly changing because of the heat wave across the country is sending people buying them!

An Ideal Portable Camping Fan/LED Lantern/Phone Charger.

Here's an easy way to keep cool and to light up a tent at night this summer. It's the X10 Portable Camping Fan/LED Lantern with 7800mAh rechargeable battery. It has a racketing 180° head rotation that stays in place where you set it. A fold-out hook makes it easy to hang in a tent, on a branch, beam, etc. The entire device is small enough to pack. It has USB-C charging in, plus a 2A quick charging out function. That means the 7800 mAh battery can also be used as emergency power to charge your phone, GPS, iPod, etc. A really nice touch is the included remote control that lets you set the fan speed and light level without getting out of sleeping bag. But wait, there's more! The remote control also lets you set a timer to shut off at 2, 3 or 5 hours. The company says it takes 6-8 hours to charge completely, but it can be used while charging. aced on desk at home or in office. The battery can work continuously from 8-25 hours depending on light level, fan speed, or both. (There are battery level LED's so you can see the state of the charge.) It sounds quiet which the company says it due to it brush-less motor. I think the price is very decent at under $30.00. Was under $25.00 as of 7/12/21 but that price can change at any time!

This Camera doesn't shoot pictures, but it shoots bubbles -- lots of them!

Kids will love these bubble cameras. Actually, Will & I had have fun with them too. They look like a camera, but they blow bubbles, lots of them. They use 3 AA batteries, not included, and it does require an adult to unscrew the battery compartment to put them in. A mini-screwdriver is included. One of two, this one from HA HA Land has music, lights, and the sound of a shutter clicking everytime you press the start button. But be aware, although it probably won't the kids, the music repeats very often and it may drive you a little crazy. Since you can't turn them off -- everything starts with the "on" button, the only control on the camera --- I also bought one that just blows bubbles. Age 3+ up to about 100 years of age I'd say. :)

Bubble machine from HaHaLand via Amazon - Bubbles, lights, SFX, but you can't turn off any of them. The one button makes everything play at the same time. Includes a bottle of bubble soap. Price keeps changing, but mostly under $15.00.

But wait, there's more! The SplashNSpray Bubble Machine Camera.

This one didn't make the show on air, but it puts out plenty of bubbles. It also uses 3 AA batteries, but they are not included. An adult will be needed to unscrew the battery cover and put them in. This camera has PLENTY of bubbles, but no music, or lights. I like them both, but will probably give this one the edge since it just makes bubbles. Includes two bottles of bubble soap. Price keeps changing, but mostly about $15 or less.
