PogoCam is a small, lightweight, easily removable eyewear camera that captures photos and HD videos from the users’ perspective. (Basically it shoots where you look since it's mounted on your sun or eyeglasses. It has a five-megapixel sensor and can capture and store 100 still photographs or up to three minutes of 720p HD video at 30 frames / second with full audio. (It's not a three minute video, but six 30-second clips, perfect for social media use). The camera is activated by a single button press, is focus free with auto-white balance. But wait, there's more! The included pocket smart case can recharge PogoCam up to three times in as little as 35 minutes for each recharge cycle. The smart case also transmits photographs wirelessly to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. It attaches magnetically to frames having PogoTrack technology or to PogoLoop (a universal adapter which is attachable to the vast majority of eyeglass frames). Available at the company website, Amazon.com, and hundreds of other locations. It's $149.00.

Alexa Answers From Above Via The First Alert Onelink Safe And Sound

Alexa was everywhere at CES 2018. One place it makes sense, now that I've seen it (but not heard it) is in the new First Alert Onelink Safe & Sound. The company says this is the 1st smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarm with a superior home speaker and Alexa built-in! The reason I think this is a clever idea is that you're going to install smoke/CO detectors in a lot of rooms. Since the First Alert units need a speaker to call out the emergencies, why not install a top-notch speaker and Alexa, so you can also use the unit to communicate with Alexa. That way you can have music in every room, get the weather, etc. throughout the house. They require WiFi and when one unit goes off, it sets off the other units in the house. The alarm can also alert you on your mobile phone whether or home or away. The built-in voice alerts announce the location and type of emergency. A Google Assistant version is coming too. Available soon. (This was posted 1/18/18). $249.99. A lower price version without Alexa will be coming mid-summer for under $150.00.

Now you can easily add Alexa to your car!

If you're a fan of the Giz Wiz Show you know we're a fan of Anker. They started by building great external battery chargers at very competitive prices, but are now branching out into other electronics. One of their newest companies is called Roav. Chad was over at the Anker booth at Showstoppers and shot a video about their first product. It's the Roav Viva, an onboard 12 volt device charger. Many other companies make car chargers that plug into the cigarette lighter plug, but his new car charger offers something no other one does so far. Yes, it can smart-charge two devices (up to 2.4V each), but it also has Alexa built in! That's right, Alexa takes to the road with the Roav Viva. It connects to your car’s stereo and your smart phone via Bluetooth. Then using your phone’s data plan and the Roav app, you can ask Alexa for directions, stream music, makes calls and more. The audio is via your car's audio system. It's was introduced at CES 2018, and it's available now, or very shortly. MSRP: $49.99.

Kingston Lets You Add Seven Inputs To Many New Computers That Are "Port-shy".

New laptops are thinner, smaller and many have the newer USB-C ports. Unfortunately, they don't have much else in the way of ports. That where the new Nucleum from Kingston has you covered. Whether you want to connect to a larger monitor, add an external keyboard or need to offload large files you now have many more options. This new device the ideal hub for newer devices like MacBooks. You can use your favorite mouse, monitor, and other accessories you’ve become used to with your new notebook. With this single USB-C hub you can connect up to 7 devices. It provides 2 USB-C ports, two USB-A 3.0 ports as well as a 4K HDMI (out). But wait, there's more! There's also an SD and microSD card slot. MSRP: $79.99 and due out very soon. This was written on 1/20/18. My experience has been that once a new device gets widely distributed, discounts will be easily available.

There's a good chance you own a clothes washer and clothes dryer -- but how about a clothes folder?

If you don't know about Foldimate, here's a quick  summary. Let's assume you have an automatic washer and dryer. Those two machines do the bulk of the work with dirty clothes. But once you take those clothes out of the dryer you still have to fold them. And folding clothes can be a boring, time-consuming task. That chore can end in the future. The wait is more than a year and a half as of January 2018, but Foldimate will do that boring job for you. You'll have to do a touch of work, but your part is easy. Just clip the out of the dryer shirts, towels, etc., on the machine's pair of hooks. It takes them into the machine, folds them neatly and they exit the machine in a neat pile, ready to be put away. You'll see a simulated demo in the video Chad & I shot at CES 2018. The price given at the show was $980. Not too outrageous if you have lots of clothes to be folded on a daily or weekly basis. But, it's not expected to actally by on sale until fall/winter 2019. That's like another 19 months from CES.
