Look in on the kids, pets, your office, boat, etc. from anywhere there's WiFi.

Check on your home, pets, kids, anywhere you have WiFi with the Dropcam HD WiFi Cam. This new version offers HD video, night vision, and 2-way audio. Their online viewer on Smart Phone or computer lets you check on the baby, kids, pet, etc. anywhere there’s WiFi. (During hurricane Irene I used my original version of the Dropcam to monitor my boat throughout the entire storm!) Dropcam HD is very easy to set up. Plug it into a USB port, give your Dropcam HD a name and select a Wi-Fi network. That's it. In minutes it will be streaming video in 720p HD. Connects to your Mac or PC and needs no software. With the free Dropcam iPhone app and Dropcam for Android, you can watch the video from your Dropcam HD on the go using your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android phone, and even your Kindle Fire tablet. There's no limit to where and how you view your video. And with the new two-way audio, you can speak directly through your Dropcam HD. Say "hi" to your newborn baby from the office or check in with the pet sitter as she feeds the dog. (Heck, I’d just check in and talk to my dog, Fairway.) $149.00 Available soon. There’s no charge to watch your video anywhere. If you want record/playback options (even to see what’s happened in the past), check the Dropcam website for monthly plans and recording options.

Here are the fun techie gifts that cost less than $25 - as seen on World News Now.

I buy a lot of junkie stuff on the Internet, but the Lava Red LED Watch turned out to be a really neat gizmo. Some websites say it’s the Samurai Japanese inspired faceless watch that looks like a bracelet but tells time like a watch. And they’re right. When the LED digits aren’t lit, there’s no hint of a watch. It supposed to be fashion friendly for men and women. It’s a very big and wide bracelet, so I don’t think it would look good on a woman’s wrist. The first time you push the button on the side of the Lava Watch you see the time digits. The second push brings up the red LED date display. The third push brings up the seconds display. But all these displays stay lit for only a few seconds. This is save battery life. One website says there is a way to keep the watch display on all the time, but that would kill the battery really quick so I doubt the watch can do that. List price is said to be anywhere from $50 to $200, but you can find it for about $10 if you do a web search for “lava watch”. Be aware that shipping often takes 2 to 3 weeks from most places listed on Amazon. There is also a blue LED version which I think I like a bit better than the red LED. Also there's a silver version and a black version. I showed the black version on the show. As you can see by the photo above, the silver version doesn't show the time as clear as the dark model. Here's a place that sells it for under $10. I bought several of them here.

Small gadget, big fun -- Tankbot!

Tankbot  This could easily be this season’s hottest new Executive Toy! But anyone who plays with it will love it. First you fold down the built in USB dongle, the plug your Tankbot into an available port on your computer to charge the internal battery. When the two blue LED’s go out, it’s charged. The tiny Tankbot has three distinct operating modes. In the first mode, an optical navigation technology lets it navigate around obstacles. Build a maze of books, or just junk on your desk and watch Tankbot run around and turn quickly to avoid hitting things. (Hint: the mini navigation system doesn’t really see the color black, so it’s best to use lighter color objects for your maze.) In mode two, Tankbot just dances, spins and does what it want, all the time making cute sounds. And in the mode three, you can use your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad to control your Tankbot. You get a free controller included with the kit, and the app you download is free too. But the controls are rather basic, forward, reverse, turn, speed and stop. But for under $25, this is really fun. Radio Shack may still have it for a special price of $19.99.

How about a USB hub that adds four ports while remaining flexible.

One of the problems with the standard USB hub is that it’s inflexible. And another problem is, you don’t have enough USB ports for all your accessories. Along comes an inventor with an idea of USB hub with flexibility. Quirky likes the idea and produces it! The Contort Flexible USB Hub is a four-port USB hub and cord manager, with a flexible neck to protect all your USB devices from accidental damage. It can accommodate lots of cables. The folks at Think Geek tested it with an iPod Dock Connector cable, micro-USB cable and mini-USB cable and all three could be neatly spooled together for charging. $24.99

Strangest Product of 2011? - Bathe & Brew!

If you’re buying a gift for a gadget lover, it can be difficult because they probably have all the latest gadgets. But I bet they don’t have Bathe & Brew! What could be safer than brewing coffee using 120V AC while you shower? Of course, that’s ridiculous, which is why this product doesn’t exist. It would most likely kill you, if it did exist! This is a Prank Pack Gift Box. Here’s the idea behind them. When you present your gift, the person who gets it will pretend to like it, while being completely disappointed and confused. Then when they open the end of the box, they’ll the bright yellow sign with the Prank Pack Gag Fake Gift Box announcement! Now they’ll love it. because they’ll want to ‘stick’ someone else with it and watch them squirm when they see the box. There are about a dozen different Prank Pack Fake Gift Boxes that show fairly stupid, but almost believable products on the outside with photos, quotes, diagrams, and all sorts of other impressive things. There are no clues the product isn't real until the recipient opens the box. Besides the sign informing them of the gag will be the real present you bought them. That’s assuming you want to stick a real present in there. But whatever you put in there, they’ll be relieved it’s not what’s pictured on the box! Yes, you’re paying close to $8 for an empty box, but it does have a great ‘surprise’ factor. You can find them as low as $6.99 if you do a web search. Think Geek sells a 2-Pack that includes the Bathe & Brew - A coffee maker/shower/soap dispenser and ToeTunes Slipper Speakers - Take the tunes with you wherever you roam! The Prank Packboxes are 12" x 9" x 4".
