Here's a clever new device that can save you a lot of water!

The One2tap total flow control faucet adaptors let you easily determine just the right amount of water you need at the bathroom sink. A simple lever activates a valve that releases the water and stops it again with a simple touch. So easy a child can control it, so durable it meets all plumbing codes. The choice is simple. Let the water run or tap a lever, namely the One2tap and let the water stop running instantly. The valve and lever are manufactured with an anti-microbial agent to ensure against cross-contamination with the sink faucets. Because the faucet handles of the sink are left in the “on” position at the desired temperature, there is no need to touch them again. Simply tapping the anti-microbial impregnated lever runs the water only when you need it. There’s no longer cross-contamination from one person to the next at the handle. It's simple to install. Just remove the aerator & replace it with the one that’s built into this device. Because the One2tap fits most faucets it allows children, the elderly, anyone with arthritis or the disabled the freedom to wash their hands, brush their teeth, or shave on their own. It works in schools, RV’s, boats, hospitals, and nursing homes. A plastic version will be about $15 And in chrome about $35 - $40. It will be available very soon.

Here's a neat idea that just might prevent a nasty fall!

Here’s how the Safety Socket works. You plug your appliance AC cord into the Safety Socket and the Safety Socket into a wall outlet. If someone walking or running trips over the power cord, it disconnects instead of causing a fall! Once disconnected, it’s easy to just snap the magnetic socket back together to turn the appliance power back on. The patented breakaway outlet is designed to prevent tripping over electric cords, and to minimize the risks of accidents, costly repairs, and broken appliances. It could be a great help in households with children and/or the elderly. I asked the company if there was a way to judge exactly how much pressure was needed to cause the Safety Socket to disconnect. A spokesman at the Hardware Show explained that if there were enough pressure to cause a fall, the Safety Socket would disconnect first and avoid the fall. My guess you really can’t figure out exactly what will happen in every case, but it’s a great safety assist for less than $20. (Plus S&H.)

Don’t you hate it when you try to unscrew a light bulb & it breaks off at the base!

Well, here’s a quick, easy, and very inexpensive solution! It’s the Ease-Out Broken Bulb Remover.  It makes a difficult job easy, namely safely removing a broken bulb from a light socket! No more pliers! No more tape-balls. No more potatoes. Yep, there are a lot of weird ways to “try” get the broken light bulb base out of the socket, but this one works with no frustration. It comes with a plastic guard to help protect your hand from the broken bulb fragments. But you should wear protective eye gear and maybe gloves. And, oh year, SHUT OFF THE POWER before you start! This neat little device sells for under $10. The company says it’s widely available at places like Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Kmart, Lowes and True Value. And the company also says Sears sells this device under their own Craftsman brand. If you don't want to shop for one check out the link below.

On the web I found a site that sells it for under $7.00.  I haven’t shopped here however:

And from the WNN "Car Gadgets" Spot: Can't remember where you parked your car? Now you can find it at distances up to half a mile away.

Sure you can use your key fob  to blink the lights and sound the horn to help find your car in a shopping mall parking lot, or at the ball game. But what about if your car is really far away. The horn/lights option works within a 100 feet or so, but Auto-Findercan guide you to your car from up to ½ mile away. This technology is superior to GPS because it guides you to what you are looking for without the requirement of open sky for satellite signals. To find your car, press and sweep the small hand-held finder and let it the lighted arrows and sound guide you in the right direction. Patrick Franz from Auto-Finder stopped by my office to give me a demonstration. I told him the best thing to do would be to park his car some place in the vicinity of my office and let me search for it. He did, and at first I thought the Auto-Finder was wrong because it kept pointing ahead from my office. I had told Patrick to go right or left, and that's what I thought it would have done. But for a more sure fire test Patrick went straight ahead and parked in the next block. I was able to find his car using the Auto-Finder. There are three different sweeping techniques to finding a car and it pays to watch the videos on the company's website. Sometimes one technique is superior to the others, depending on where you are. Patrick said in New York City you get signals bouncing off buildings, so it was good I did two different techniques to locate his car. The basic kit is $99 which is all is need for a single car. It includes the receiver which Velcros to the car windshield, the transmitter & case, plus the batteries. They also offer a travel kit and family kits. All the info is at their website.

Here's a handy helper for road travel and for many emergencies.

The powerful, new Cobra Jumpstarter/powerpack can be used to jump start cars, run your 12 volt auto accessories outside the car  via its DC output and even power small appliances via the built-in AC outlet. It's good for tools and household appliances up to 400  watts. But wait, there's more! There's also a 5V USB port to charge cellphones or other electronic devices and a 260 PSI air compressor for flat tires, air mattresses, etc.  Use the built in LED worklight for nighttime emergencies. The powerpack comes in 4 sizes/models based on the amount of power needed.  It has auto, home and outdoor applications. Charge it from an AC outlet with the included AC adapter. Use the four LED power meter to see when it's time to recharge the Jumpstarter/powerpack. The most powerful unit (the one I showed on World News Now)  puts out 1800 watts and costs under $130. Smaller units start under $50. You buy the amount of power and the onboard accessories you need. Be sure to do a price search on the web. I saw the 1800 Watt unit for about $112.00.
