Here's info on stuff and photos I found interesting, and you might find them interesting too. And yes, our disclaimer too!
Here's the link to my Farallon work boat Dropcam, sitting behind the windshield. During the height of hurricane Sandy the folks at Dropcam told me 70,272 dropped by to view the raging Hudson River through my camera! There's no power at my marina right now, my Dropcam is running on battery power. So it may go off line at any time.

This set of docks doesn't connect to anything anymore after the astronomical high tide hit last night.
That's my boat, the tan workboat closest in. See that metal ring on the short piling, right in back of the outboard motor? That holds the wooden finger in place. The finger helps hold the boat in place and is how you get on and off the boat. Last night's storm surge high tide was so high the finger rode up and off that piling. Like a miracle, when the tide went out, it went back on the piling!! Just amazing! The real danger could be that the boat would shift when not connected to the finger. Then it wold be possible the engine would come on top of the piling. That would be an expensive disaster!
It's astronomical high tide during hurricane Sandy. At the West 79th Street Boat Basin, the Hudson River overflows the seawall and floods Riverside Park! The marina office, that white building on the right, probably has four to six feet of water inside. Of course there's no power, phone, etc.
