Travel Expert Johnny Jet Has One, I Now Have One Too.

My readings just before the show.On his website, Johnny Jet talked about adding a finger pulse oximeter to your travel health kit. An oximeter can be used to monitor changes in your respiratory condition as it registers your pulse rate. And it lights up and it fits on your finger, so I figured I must have one! I bought the AccuMed one Johnny recommend on Amazon. The company says it fits all finger sizes from kids above four years old to adults as it measures the level of oxygen in the blood and reads the pulse rate in just eight to ten seconds. It is crucial to use the device in a stationary position and not while in motion for precise readings. Equipped with two AAA batteries (included), the oximeter automatically powers off when not in use and delivers up to 20 continuous hours of battery life. Comes with a travel case and lanyard. --- And from the Giz Wiz. I love this device! This is way easier and much smaller than another device I was using to take my pulse! And this one also tells you your oxygen saturation level. I'm not sure why you need to know that, but online I read it should be between 95 and 100. Mine runs about 95-97, so I'm good. I like to sit quite sometimes and see how low I can get my pulse rate. Usually down to the low 50's. I paid around $32 for mine. --- UPDATE: The one I bought is no longer available on Amazon as of 10/16/20, but there's another one there from the same company that seems to do the same thing, and it's only about $20.

The Giz Wiz Shows A Halloween Gadget Too.

Something new from Home Depot. They had a virtual Press Event a few week back and they sent members of the press who attended a little thank you gift of a few holiday products. I show a couple of them on this week's show. Here's some info from Home Depot on one of them: Make your Halloween, or holiday decorations stand out with the 6 ft. LED Ultra Slim Wire Icon Lights. These Icon lights (Halloween - mini-bats, Star, Christmas & more) have a battery-operated timer for 6 hours on. The Star Icon LED's have a timer for 6 hours on and 18 hours off, providing effortless operation through the holiday season. They offer different light modes such as fading, flashing and steady on to suit your Christmas lighting needs. 6 ft. lighted length with 18 star-shaped LED bulbs in warm white. Requires 3 AA batteries (sold separately). Although they are on the Home Depot website, there was no price listed for the Icon LED lights when I checked on 10/14/20.

Chad's Crappy Corner & his third gadget for his new October Theme.

For Chad's Cheap Corner our October Theme the Patreons picked “Spooky Decoration Gadgets”. (No surprise there, it has the word 'spooky' in it!) Chad's third spooky gadget is the 14 Pack Colored Overlays Transparency Color Film Plastic Sheets.

Okay, so by themselves they're not spooky, but watch this week's show to see how Chad is using them to make the outside of his house look more spooky. The set Chad bought was suddenly 'no longer available', but there are lots of other companies selling “Correction Gel Light Filter Sheets”. One of them, the Mogu 14 sheet pack of 8.5 by 11 Inch,7 Assorted Colors, seems very much the same. It contains 14 pack transparent colored plastic sheets, 2 of each of 7 color, just like the pack Chad bought on Amazon.

Chad's take: Chad liked these plastic gel sheets because they are protected by a thin film on both sides, which should be removed before use. They're great to use for lighting effects as you'll see. Chad notes that the sheets are thicker than other gels he has used in the past and he didn't think they would have trouble standing up to the halogen bulbs he's using them on outside his house. Watch this week's show to see how Chad changed the outside lighting for these Halloween nights.

https://amzn.to/3dDFAbG $13.99 (As on 10/15/20) There are many other choices there too that all seem the same. As an Amazon Associate Giz Wiz Biz earns from qualifying Amazon purchases. You pay no more.

UPDATE ON THE FILTERS CHAD DEMONSTRATED ON LAST WEEK'S SHOW. Don't buy them. They melted! Maybe that's why they are no longer available. But just in case other companies are using the same supplier for the ones Chad bought, use caution when placing gels on lights.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video & Get An Autographed MAD Magazine!

Our email this week is from Joe Harvey, another “first time” viewer video sender-inner. Here's his email:

Hi Dick & Chad:

I have been meaning to do this video for years. Here you go.

This player uses a format all it's own.

It had software to convert WAV files to its own format.

It took about 2 hours to assemble that one and only music disk.

Joe Harvey Jam it in-nair repair.

If you're into motorcycles, Joe has his own YouTube Channel:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up
hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
