Giz Wiz Show 1749 October 17, 2019 Independent Show #231

Wow! The Giz Wiz Show is in year 13 overall & our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we continue on! If it wasn't for them, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including  travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv. You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. Thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support, but a bit more support would be a big help. Thanks from OMGchad & DickDe!

On this show I'll do 3 more unique gadgets you may not know about. Two of them I liked.

Did you know if you have an working landline phone powered by copper wire, you can use that power for a nightlight and phone charger?

It's the VR3 Phone Line Charger + Night Light. This device plugs into your telephone jack. But it will only work with a working copper phone line, not with fiber. Once you plug it it, you use the jack on the side of the device to plug your phone in. That way this device is always getting power to charge the internal 1800 mAh battery. When charged a light sensor turns the built in night light goes on and off automatically. On the front of the device is a USB-A port is to charge your device. It won't fast charge it, and it probably won't fully charge it in your phone battery is low, but it will help you have battery power when the electric goes out, because your copper phone line is totally separate from your A/C power. There's even a microUSB built in as a way to charge the device itself if the phone line is not active. Could be a help during a power failure.

Carry a doggie water bowl with you just about any place you go.

It's easy with the RadDog Collapsible Bowl Having a doggie bowl with you, especially in warm weather, is a great idea. This tiny portable, folding dog bowl is leakproof, holds up to 16 ounces, and packs down into an incredibly small pocket-sized package. (It can even fit in the pocket of running shorts.) It's made from durable, coated nylon and has a plastic MicroLock so you can clip it on to belts, backpacks, leash, etc. When I tested mine, I filled it from a sink, but it would be easy to fill from a drinking fountain too, like those found in parks.Putting the filled RadDog bowl down on a flat surface makes it a decent-sized doggie drinking bowl. Available in blue or green, it's under $10.

The Viateck Pocket Vacuum - yes, it sucks.

I bought this device as "deal of the day" from the pulseTV website. The copy says "Dust and dirt doesn't stand a chance when you have the Viatek Cordless Battery Powered Pocket Vacuum Pro in hand!" I think a more realistic line (at least for me) would be: "Dust and dirt don't budge very much when you have the Viatek Cordless Battery Powered Pocket Vacuum in hand!" It is is sort of lightweight and it did come with the brush and blower accessory kit. But you'll see how effective it was in this week's show. It doesn't include 4 AA batteries which you need for power, but it come with a carry storage bag. Although mine was just about $5 as a 'deal', shipping & tax brought it about $11.00. It's $9.99 --- but wait --- Four for $31.96!! Plus shipping. I personality didn't think it was worth even $5.

Chad's Crappy Corner & Another Gadget For His October Theme!

Chad's September theme, as picked by our loyal Patreons, is “Cheap gadgets from Alibaba"!

Chad's third Alababa week gadget is the Mini USB Automatic Compression Vacuum Pump Sealer Clamp Strip Bags Kitchen Tool Fresh Food Rod Strip Kitchen Tool With Bag.

Here's what Alibaba says about it: Mini USB Automatic Compression Vacuum Pump Sealer Clamp Strip Bags Kitchen Tool. Specifications: Small size, easy to carry, easy to use. Supported sealed bag, waterproof, moisture proof, moldproof. It is a good choice for food storage. Vacuum Pump Sealer. Material: ABS + PC Battery: 800mAh Battery (Included) Vacuum: 40-50K. It's under $5, but will take a few weeks for delivery.

And Chad's take: When Chad opened his Alibaba package he was surprised that it it was a “As Seen On TV” product and that that famous “TV” logo was prominently display on the carton. The box arrived crushed but it seems the contents –1 x Vacuum Pump Sealer - 5 x Storage Bags - 1 x USB Cable & 1 x Sealing Clip contents were all fine. Watch this week's show to see the Vacuum Pump in action. It actually does work, with certain limitations. Chad will explain in his 'cheap gadget' spot.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video On Any Kind Of Gadget!

This week's Gadget Warehouse video is from a frequent contributor to The Giz Wiz Show, Jim Manley. Jim shows us a very fancy phone from over 50 years ago that is just as stylish today as it was back then! Here's Jim's email:

Hey Dick and Chad,

I have another gadget to share.

This time, it's my Ericofon.

Phones have been neat gadgets since they were first invented, but this one is especially cool. It's not exactly a smart phone, but I think it's a sharp phone.

Thanks, Jim Manley

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hting? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live, I can email an autographed to you Alfred E. Neuman photo if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
