Giz Wiz #1545 November 18th, 2015, our 29th Independently Produced Giz Wiz Show

If you'd like to support OMGChad & DickDe in our independent venture, (we pay for everything ourselves) just click the Patreon link at the top of this link: http://www.gizwiz.tv/.  You can also contribute just once via PayPal there too. And thank you! Our show wouldn't exist with our viewer's support.

And now from SEMA 2015 gadgets for your cars, vans, SUV's, trucks, etc.

VOYO can turn your older car into a smart car. It connects to the OBD-II port under the dash. It’s a plug and play device that can be set up in minutes. You can add optional relays in the fusebox. VOYO comes with a phone app that can lock/unlock the doors of your car including a hands free method. You can require your cell phone be in the car to start the engine. That’s useful if you have teenagers or to prevent car theft. It works on all cars since 1996 but the most advanced features are for vehicles 8 years old or newer. The OBD-II unit costs $100 and relays are $50 each. Voyo will be shipping February, 2016.

Two really useful under $10 gadgets I found at SEMA 2015.

The SuperVizor XT is a safety-tool designed by Avi Goldstein, a NYC Paramedic who has been at many major car accident scenes. He designed his emergency tool, which enables drivers to cut the seatbelt and smash a car window, to be kept within easy reach. Avi said often an accident victim is pinned behind the steering wheel and can't reach the glove compartment or down under his seat. Even if he reaches his glove compartment there's probably all kind of junk in there. That's why Avi's lifesaving tool attaches to the visor directly over the driver's head for easy reach. It's a small, inexpensive gadget that hopefully you'll never have to use, but if you do, it can be a real lifesaver. Features include 440 stainless steel body construction, a 440 Stainless steel seatbelt cutting blade, a stainless steel window punch and a rubber molded finger grip. It also comes with a heavy duty nylon sheath that attaches to sun visor for easy access. It also has a cover that protect you and the cutting blade which is very sharp. Available in four colors. $9.99 at Avi's website:

If you're any sort of handy-person you have probably used. WD-40. You may have also tried to spray WD-40 into a hard to reach place only to discover you pretty much sprayed it on everything but not exactly the spot you wanted. There's where the new WD-40 Multi-Use Product Can comes in. It features a long, 8" flexible straw that bends and keeps its shape. That means users can get around corners and crevices, and up and under things, to spray the same WD-40 Multi-Use Product most of us have used elsewhere. To quote Tim Lesmeister, vice president of marketing at WD-40 Company: “This new delivery system gives trade professionals and DIYers the ability to reach the unreachable and accomplish difficult tasks in overhead areas, under the sink plumbing components, or specific sections in motors and engines, among numerous other uses.” WD-40 EZ Reach should be just about everywhere by now and I've seen it for about $8 for a 14.4oz can.If you don't need to use the EZ Reach straw, just fold it down and use the WD-40 the normal way. I think this is a great idea for spraying those hard to reach areas. For more information about WD-40 EZ-REACH and how it can help you get WD-40 Multi-Use Product into hard-to-reach places, visit

Ever wash your car and get the hose stuck under a tire?

If you've ever washed your car (or used an extension cord, or air hose around your car) you know it's a short interval between the time you start, to the time the hose gets wedged under one of the tires! And of course the more you pull, the tighter it gets. That's why the Hose Slide was created . It's designed to keep waster hoses from getting caught under your tire. The company says it's simple, and effective! It take less than 2 seconds to put down a Hose Slide, so there's no reason not to do it! If you don't put one down, you might just find yourself wasting a lot of time stopping and removing the hose. But don't use it just for water hoses. Next time you're using your buffer, put down a Hose Slide and stop the power cord from getting caught! Don't think you have slack and suddenly your buffer is yanked back! No one wants to make an appointment at the body shop to get buffer burn covered up. And a pair of Hose Slides is under $13. I asked why they weren't sold in packs of four and the spokesperson at the booth said that people really really half of the car at a time. When you move the bucket to other side of the car, just move the Hose Slides too.

Chad's Crappy Corner and another gadget for his November theme, Chad's Gadget Warehouse.

Chad polled our loyal (and much appreciated) Patreons and asked what theme they would like to see for November. They picked: “Chad's Gadget Warehouse”, old stuff Chad still has! This week Chad's pick is his Sony DSCP93 digital camera.

It's still available on Amazon, although why would anyone buy one? It's 11 year old technology. Here's a bit about it: The Sony DSCP93 digital camera will pick up amazing detail with its 5.1-megapixel CCD--and produce poster-sized prints. It features a 3x optical zoom, 9-shot burst mode, high-resolution 1.5-inch LCD screen for reviewing shots, A/V connection to view images on your TV, and a high-resolution movie mode that's limited only by your Memory Stick's capacity. Capture video with audio at 30 frames per second (fps) at VGA size 640 x 480; the included 32 MB memory card will store 87 seconds of video at this setting. Movie length is only limited by the amount of storage you have on hand. The Video Mail mode captures a smaller movie (160 x 112 pixels) that's more suitable to sending to friends and family via e-mail. ----- Did you get those specs? 32MG memory card, enough to store a 87 second video!! But 11 years ago, this was a very decent camera. And as you'll see on this week's show, it still works. Not does it still work, Chad showed us a couple of pictures from 11 years ago that are still stored in the camera! Of course the Memory Stick format is long dead and Chad didn't have the cable handy to connect to a TV, so we viewed them directly on the camera's screen.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

Here's the email that arrived with this week's Viewer Video. (We talked about SnapPower on a previous Giz Wiz show, but this is close-up look at them from someone who's installed and is using them.)

Hey Dick and Chad, know you guys are short on videos so I decided to show you my new gadgets I just bought and installed in my house. They are from a company called Snap Power (snappower.com) They work great for accent lighting and for night lights if you have a small child or pets. BTW 'I did like Dick does' and shot a one take theatre. Love the show guys, keep on keeping on!

SUBMIT YOUR VIEWER VIDEO and win an autographed MAD magazine and 35+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture.

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos! We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

My Favorite Gadget of All Time: Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video! IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
