Giz Wiz Show #1770 March 12, 2020 Independent Show #251

Wow! This is our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we're now going into year 15. If it wasn't for our supporters the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/.

On this week's show we have three more fun gadgets from the huge Toy Fair 2020 show!

Snap Circuits Introduces Kids to MyHome.

Snap Circuits MyHome is designed to teach kids “electricity is for everyone”. (Don't worry, it's not AC power, it's battery power.) Snap Circuits says that MyHome is designed to inspire non-techie and techie kids alike, empowering them with fundamental knowledge about how electricity in their home and in their world works. It answers questions like: How does the electric company get power to my home?  --- How does power travel inside my walls? ---  What happens when I turn on a light?  -- What happens when the power goes out? Kids ages 8+ can build a house or city building with real, working, 3-D circuits, just like they use every day. With colorful base grids to spark creativity, kids can make their structures their own, all while learning how electricity travels and powers their home. Learn about security systems, automatic lights, alarms, motion detectors, fan speed, generators, motors that power appliances, and more! Coming summer 2020.

The T9 Robot Is Pretty Slick!

Robotics says their T9 is the world's most advanced programmable robot that automatically converts from a robot to a vehicle in a stunningly smooth and seamless movement. Actually, I saw the transformation and it's quite impressive as you can see in their 15 second video. (link below). At Toy Fair New York they demonstrated many of its other functions: bipedal walking in robot form, race function in vehicle form and robot control/commands by voice or app. The T9 is built with the latest robotic technology with 23 proprietary chips and 22 proprietary servo motors, one for each artificial joint. That makes it one of the most agile and flexible robots ever created. The T9 can perform captivating dance movement and innovative stunts. With three programming platforms (Manual, Visual and 3D Graphics) T9’s massive storage has enough memory to store tens of thousands of them. As expected the T9 is not inexpensive, but at $499.99, it does seem better than any other robot in that price range I've ever seen. Jacob, a company spokesperson (and a big MAD fan, it turns out) told me they company is working on another robot who won't transform into a car, but will other fun robot things. He'll have lower price, but no other details are set yet. You can always check at their website.

The Yolkies On You.

What I thought was a real egg on a paper plate turned out to be a part of a Yolkie Egg. What's a Yolkie? It's a big hit toy and mini-collectable from RedwoodVentures. This year, they are expanding its tasty Foodie Surprise line with the launch of Yolkies Slime Eggs. Kids unwrap mystery eggs to reveal adorable Yolkies characters and sweet slime-like candy. The Yolkies are really cool little collectibles that come with the egg-look candy slime. The Yolkie figure is simple and fun. The heads pop out and can be swapped with other heads to mix and match their costumes. The candy slime is tasty and as you'll see in the video it has a gummy yolk in it to make it look like a real egg. At first I didn't think I wanted to actually taste it, but I did. It was surprising sweet, which kids will most likely love. The lady in the video said they were $4.99 which seemed inexpensive. Online the lowest price I found was $5.99 and that was at Target. They like $7.99 on Amazon, so Target's a better deal.

Chad's Crappy Corner & his second gadget for his new March Theme as voted on by our loyal Patreons.

For Chad's second 'Cheap Gadgets For When You're Ill”, voted on by our loyal Patreons, Chad bought the HoMedics Personal Travel Cool Mist Humidifier. The company says it's a compact and portable travel version of our room humidifiers. Its size makes it perfect for small offices, hotel rooms, dorms, bedrooms, cubicle desks, cars, and tents. It has an AC power cord adapter that detaches making the unit even smaller and easier to fit in your travel bag or purse. Our travel humidifier utilizes standard water bottles, 20 oz. or less. The small humidifier produces a micro-fine cool mist for up to 9 hours.

And Chad's take: Chad wasn't thrilled with this. First he thought it looked weird with the bottle sticking out of it. Second, he didn't think was really small to be carried easily on a trip. Also he felt the mist coming out of it was not steady, but kind of stop and go. Plus you need to carry the AC power adapter with you. MSRP $29.99, but Chad got it Bed, Bath & Beyond for $24.00 with easy to find online 20% off one item coupon. It was cheaper than that on Amazon on 3/13/20, but that could change at any time.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show!

Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up
hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
