Show #1838 Thursday July 1st 2021 Independent Show 317

Wow! We're in year 16 of The Giz Wiz Show! (The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006!) If it wasn't for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/

Yes, I went to a live in-person trade show; the first one in 15 months! It was the Housewares Summer Preview. So this week we finish our look at new gadgets for the kitchen and even a new accessories line for the doggie set!

We'll start with the perhaps the most expensive, deluxe cappuccino maker I've seen at a show. It's the Jura Z10.

First, a bit of info about Jura. I've seen and talked about their machines for years, but never knew they sold them in large numbers. Like 448, 000 coffee machines last year alone! Now JURA has introduced the new Z10 model, which offers not only hot-brewed coffee but also cold brew offerings at the touch of a button. This doubles the range of specialties available and opens up a whole new dimension in the enjoyment of coffee. Here are a few of the operating and programming highlights. It starts with a 4.3” touchscreen color display and lets you save, copy and personalize products with memory for different family members. Plus: Programmable and individually adjustable amount of water. Programmable and 10 individually adjustable coffee strength levels. Programmable amount of milk / milk foam with 10 programmable milk / milk foam temperature (Levels). 3 Programmable brewing temperature levels. Even 3 programmable temperature hot water levels. There's also a Product Recognizing Grinder (P.R.G.), which recognizes the chosen specialty and instantly and precisely adjusts the fineness of grind accordingly. It makes 38 kinds of coffee concoctions, so you know it's not inexpensive. MSRP $3999.99 or about $4400 as you'll see in the video. It's not for sale in US till the fall.

Ever hear of a 'drying stone' for the kitchen? I have now.

Here's what learned about the Madesmart Drying Stone. Here's an interesting gadget and an interesting person doing the demo! She started her own business and now has sales over 25M a year. One of of her new gadgets is the Madesmart Drying Stone Dish Rack. Here's what she says about it: This carbon stone enhances kitchen sinks with style, efficiency, and a modern twist. This dish rack is composed of high-quality plastic and an absorbent, mineral-based material designed to accelerate the evaporation of moisture.. The Drying Stone eliminates germs through a rapid dehydration process upon contact to improve the hygiene of dishes and utensils placed in the compartments or on the mat to dry. If water-logged, the Drying Stone detaches for easy cleaning and can be set in the sun or baked in the oven to accelerate drying. It retails for about $33.00 on Amazon.

Built's New Line of Accessories Goes To The Dogs!

I normally associate Built with lunch-to-go items, but at the Housewares Preview they introduced a line of new doggie gadgets. You can see them on on the company website, but I'll mention my two favorites, which can be carried as one. The Built Excursion Bottle Sling is a great way to carry dog treats, waste bags, personal items and a water bottle when walking or hiking with your pet. It has three zippered compartments and a place to securely hold their 34-ounce Tritan Bottle (or any water bottle). Built says their sling is made with durable 900D Polyester with a cushiony air-mesh lining for comfort. The strap adjusts from 37-inches to 45-inches, has d-rings for attaching accessories. The BUILT Pet Bottle with Detachable Dog Bowl, fits neatly in the Excursion Bottle Sling, but is sold separately. The  bottle is designed with a removable bowl that holds up to 12oz. It has a leak-proof lid with a carry handle and rubber grip. The wide mouth opening is ideal for adding ice, water, and cleaning. It's dishwasher safe & BPA-free. The sling is $24.99 and the water bottle is $14.99. As of 7/2/21 they were only available for preorder on the company website.

For now the new pet line is only available at their website: https://www.builtny.com/collections/pet

Chad's brand new theme for July as picked by our loyal Patreon members is??

Ta Da! Chad's New Cheap Gadget July Theme is Cheap Bike Gadgets!

Chad's 1st cheap gadget is the The CORKY Urban mirror designed to give you the literal power of hindsight. Here's some info from the company: Designed to dock perfectly to the end bars of your bike or scooter, it provides an instant flip out convex rear view mirror that lets you know what's behind you. CORKY Urban offers 360 degrees of rotation so you can view everything around you. The range of view is an incredible 100 meters (328 feet) for cars behind you and 40 meters (131 feet) for bikes.

And Chad's take? Chad liked the way it mounted and that it wasn't big and chunky like so many other bike mirrors. But he was less excited after using it. He said the view not only is small, but there is a great deal of distortion in the fisheye lens. He's not going to return it, but he's also not going to recommend it. $32.95.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Email of the week:

A old gadget from the show saved the day!

Hello Dick and Chad, several years ago in 2012 or 13 you had a pair of emergency eyeglasses on the show. I saw them at my local optometrist office when getting new glasses soon after and grabbed a pair for my work bag. They have been there unopened for years.

Today when I was at a location unloading my semi the man next to me dropped his glasses and they broke in such a way that they became unusable. So all of a sudden he's stuck over 300 miles from home and his other pair of glasses, and can't legally drive without glasses. And there is absolutely no place to get his fixed or another pair close.

So I made him a offer, "you help me get unloaded and I can get you home" I went to my truck cab and found the emergency glasses that had been on the show. They are the Emergensee glasses by Adlens. With a few twists of the knobs he could see very well. We finished unloading my trailer and he plans on giving them back when we stop at that place again next week. We see each other there regularly on Fridays.

I doubt he will ever leave home without a spare pair of glasses from now on.

Regards, Jason.

But it looks like the company has gone very high tech with their multi-lens glasses:
