Instant Power 2 in1 charger - a good idea that didn't catch on.

This gizmo was introduced at CES, Jan 2002. Here’s a little info from their press release: “The Electric Fuel Corporation has introduced an in-car adapter for the most popular models of cellphones and PDAs under the name Instant Power 2 in l charger. The new charger offers two charging modes: when powered by the in-car adapter, it can be used in any car's cigarette lighter outlet; when powered by its replaceable PowerCartridge, it can be used anywhere, even where no electrical outlet is readily available. In both cases, the power source connects to the cellphone or PDA via the Instant Power SmartCord designed for that model. Cost is $19.95 for cellphones and $24.95 for PDAs. In-car adapters sold separately as an accessory to the SmartCord cost $7.95”. This was a great idea because a power cell never loses its power. That’s why 18 years later you can still find them for sale. Of course once the power cell (or fuel cell) is activated, its power is released and it cannot be recharged. You buy a new one. The company is still very much in business, but now concentrate on government, business and military customers. There's no hint of the 2 in 1 Instant Power Charger on their website. Even though my Power Cartridge is most likely full of power, I don't have a 1992 Ipaq. (But maybe there's one in the warehouse.)
