The Giz Wiz Show 1610 for February 17th 2017, Our 94th Independent Production.

Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters The Giz Wiz Show not only continues, but is heading toward the end of its 2nd year of independent production. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/  You can also contribute just once via the PayPal link that's there too. And thank you for doing that! Our show wouldn't exist without our viewer's support.

This week we finish 'gadgets we found at the preview to the 2017 International Home and Housewares Show'. That show takes place in Chicago in March, but there's a great preview of the preview here in New York City! So on this week's show three more gadgets others will wait a month to see.

There were more than just appliances at the show. For example, here's a very clever luggage system from Biaggi.

This company makes so many different bags, I'll just talk about one that is out now. (Watch the video to see a demo of the newest one, due out in May, 2017.) Biaggi says you can pack smarter and fit everything you need for an extended trip in their inventive and spacious ZipSak 31-inch MicroFold Upright. A patent pending Z-fold design allows this sturdy duffle to magically transform from a small pouch into a spacious 31-inch high rolling duffle with plenty of room for all your travel essentials. (Check the photo on the left. That little bag near the bottom opens to the full sized bag behind it!) A convenient top zipper can be used for loading like a tote bag, a durable wrap-around zipper allows you to pack items flat and secure them with a strap, similar to a conventional suitcase. And once you reach your destination, the ZipSack quickly and easily compresses back into the small pouch that can be hidden away. The folded duffle takes up to 80% less room than comparable bags, and weighs only 5.7 pounds! The ZipSak duffle is constructed of a tough crinkle oxford nylon fabric in a selection of trendy hues and features four durable pro-velocity spinner wheels for easy maneuverability. Prices range from about $59.99 to $99.99.

Turn wine into wine that taste like more a expensive wine.

That's what the folks at the Eparé Pocket Wine Aerator booth says. You can use their device to enhance the flavor and finish of wine by releasing its natural bouquet. Just push the button, and watch the aerating motor create tiny air bubbles which rapidly introduce oxygen into the wine, freeing its tertiary aroma. The heightened aroma enriches each glass’ flavor, completing your wine experience. It accommodates all styles of wine, with 3 aeration settings, and it's small enough to store in your pocket. (Take it to a restaurant, bar, even a picnic too.) Aerate your glass on demand in as little as 15 seconds. The website says you can make a $10 bottle of wine taste like a $30 bottle in as little as 15 seconds. I feel cheated. Eugene at the booth said I could make a $10 wine taste like a $20 win. So where did the other $10 go? The Eparé Pocket Wine Aerato has three different settings (White, Red, and Port) which lets the user customize the aerating experience. The aerator measures 6" long, 1" tall and 1 ¼" wide, and weighs just 3 oz. Under $20.

The new Hamilton Beach Toaster Oven is not like what you would expect.

Two Functions, One Product is the way Hamilton Beach describes this new kitchen appliance. It's a way to free up more of that highly coveted counter space. This toaster oven provides all the traditional oven functions, while also offering an extra wide, long-slot toaster across the top. Hamilton Beach says the toaster slot option toasts 40% faster and more evenly than the leading competitor. Use the independent toast shade selector to get the exact toast you want. The long toaster slots are wide enough for artisan breads and bagels. The oven accommodates a nine-inch personal pizza and provides enough height for baked muffins. Alternate between functions with the slide of a button. Other features include front access crumb tray, 60-minute oven timer with auto shut-off and an adjustable temperature dial ranging from 200-450°F.

MSRP: $79.95, available starting April 2017.

Okay, not enough functions for you in the $79.95 Hamilton Beach Oven. Well, our highest- tech of the tech folks, Leo Laporte told me about another oven that is billed as being more like a computer that can cook! And the company is right. It does some amazing things. Leo loves his, but the price point is higher than the temperatures of the June Oven. It's $1495.00. Here's a compay video with showing features you've never seen before:

Chad's Crappy Corner & Another 'Desk Toy' - His Theme For February, 2017

Chad polled our great Patreon members to pick a theme for February. They picked “toys for the desk”. You know things you could have on your desk to entertainment yourself or guests, when you don't feel like working. Chad's third crappy 'toys for the desk' is the Henry Novelty Vacuum Cleaner.

Cute and Functional Toy Desk Accessory Desktop Gift - Office Desk Humor. The perfect little companion for your desktop, Henry is always there when you need a little friend to help tidy up. Two vacuum attachments allow you to reach the tightest spaces—even the crumbs in your keyboard. A powerful motor enhances the vacuum performance. Tools and accessories store inside. Measures 4" tall x 3-1/2" diameter. Requires 3 AA batteries, not included. $19.99.

And Chad's take: Chad had mixed feelings about Henry the novelty vacuum cleaner. He is cute, that's for sure. Even most in the chatroom thought that. But performance was lacking. Watch the video to see Chad crush a cracker over his keyboard and try to clean it up with Henry. It probably wasn't the best demo for the mini-vac, but when chad removed the hose and the attachments, he said he could feel almost no suction from the little guy's motor. So Henry gets brownie points for cute, but points deducted for usefulness. Also Chad only paid about $14.00 or so. Today, one day after we recorded the show, it's $19.99! (2/17/17)

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

This week's video arrived with this email from Brian Horovitz. (It was in response to my asking for any videos about products viewers bought on Indiegogo.)

This is a video made using the software I backed on Indiegogo back in 2013 called FaceRig. Here is a link to the campaign https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/facerig/x/5844934#/ and here is a video made using the software:

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos!

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

-

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

-

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

-

My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

-

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video!

IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
