Show #1844 Thursday August 12th 2021 Independent Show 323

Wow! We're in year 16 of The Giz Wiz Show! (The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006!) If it wasn't for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/

On this week's show we start with a kid's camera that makes prints for as little as a penny each! It's the Vtech KidiZoom Printcam!

Kids will love that they can click and print instantly with the KidiZoom PrintCam. First they preview their subject on the 2.4" color screen. The can print regular or panoramic photos in black and white right away. And as you'll see on this week's show, the printing is fast! Want to take a selfie? Just flip the lens up! The included paper roll prints up to 80 images— which works out about a penny a print. When the paper’s gone a refill pack that includes three more paper rolls and two rolls of adhesive paper to turn photos into stickers sells for about $10.00. And they can add stickers, filters and borders to any image or video. Turn photos into drawings they can color. There are 110+ templates and activities including small greeting cards, printable games and more. This kid-friendly camera takes videos, too! Transfer your full-color photos and videos to a computer via the included USB cable. Use the microSD card slot to increase storage up to 32GB with a memory card (not included). Three video games are included for playtime between photo shoots. Includes parent controls to set daily time and printing limits or turn off games. Non-removeable, rechargeable lithium-ion battery and USB charging cable included. The company says “best for ages 4 to 11 years”. MSRP: $74.99

Here's a unique backpack with a feature I've never seen before.

The Swissdigital Design massaging backpack has plenty of pockets for laptop, tablet, cellphones, books, water bottle, hand sanitizer, mask, and other essentials. A built-in USB power port allows you to charge on the go. A front of the backpack power connection lets you power up vital accessories without having to open any of the 14 pockets. (You use your own battery bank, none are included.) The backpack body materials are made from water resistance coating to keep valuable items inside dry. Although the risk seems to be very low, an RFID protection pocket keeps credit cards, passport, and personal data safe from an electronic pickpocket. Swissdigital Design has your back…literally! That's because this is the only backpack I've seen with a built in 3-way massage feature. Your battery bank will power the massaging feature.

The Thames & Kosmos Aero Dancer Kit

This is a hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) experiment kit. Here's how the company describes it: Incredible Inflatable Aero Dancer brings physics to life through experiments with a wacky, waving, wiggling tube dancer! Kids ages 8 and up build and decorate their very own tube dancer that stands over one foot tall when it busts a move! (As you see in the video it's not quite that wacky.) Learn about gears and circuits as you assemble the fan, complete with battery, motor, and switch. Conduct experiments with your tube dancer to understand air pressure, air flow, aerodynamics, and fluid dynamics. An 8-page, full-color manual includes straightforward scientific explanations. Also included are fun games to make a ball float on a stream of air, practice your aim in a game of air basketball, and launch balls into the air with the air cannon! (As you'll see on this week's show, part of the learning comes from building the fan, which I don't have the patience for! But I think a kid will like doing it. Beware you'll need to supply your own 9-volt battery, small phillips-head screwdriver, scissors and tape. MSRP: $19.99.)

Chad's Cheap Gadget August Theme picked by our loyal Patreons is cheap “What The Heck Is It?” Gadgets!

Chad had a great idea and put 'What The Heck Is It?” on the list of themes for the Patreons to vote on for his August Theme. It was the run away winner and great fun because the Patreons also get to guess What The Heck Is It? and Chad reads many of their answers on the show.

Chad's 2nd WTHII gadget is the Dochee Travel Hangers. These are portable travel folding plastic clothing hangers. The non-slip design can hold clothes steadily and keep your clothes in place. Chad shows us clothing won't be fall down and probably not stretch out .These hangers fold up into a very compact shape to pack in your bag without taking up a lot of room. Chad liked these a lot. The package contains: 6 folding travel hangers for about $15.00

Chad bought these: https://amzn.to/3m3pNZH

This Amazon page has lots of folding hanger choices: https://amzn.to/2UiVSS1

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.

Our email with a viewer video this week is from Norris Hall. I believe he submitted a video in the past, but many years ago, so it was great to get another one for this show. Here's his email:

Hi Dickie De!

Here’s a gadget video for MagicGrips for Magic Mouse.

I mention the price on Amazon in this video as 14.95 or 15.00, but have since found the same product on Amazon for $4.00 less.

Love the GizWiz show!  Norris Hall

PS: As a kid growing up in the mid-late 20th Century (1960’s - 70’s), I loved MAD Magazine. I devoured every issue. You and the "Usual Gang of Idiots" are one of the reasons I chose my career as an illustrator. Especially the artists - Mort Drucker, Al Jaffee, Don Martin, Sergio Aragones, and many more MAD artists influenced me greatly. Thank You and the gang for making me so MAD!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
