R2D2 does something you've never seen him do before.

This gadget is aimed at people who must buy everything Star Wars, especially fans of R2D2! And trust me, there must more than a thousand R2D2 gadgets out there. This is one of the newest, a nicely detailed, almost 2' high version of R2D2. He not only makes his signature (and trademarked) sound effects, he has LEDs that light up and ---- he blows bubbles! Lot of them! Yes, it is indeed, The Bubble Blowing R2D2. Fill him up with bubble solution, turn him on and then pick from one of the three buttons to direct the bubbles straight, right and left oscillate, or random. In addition to blowing bubbles, making his famous bleeps and bloops, this R2D2's flashing LED lights will certainly be a conversation starter. If it doesn't, consider new friends! MSRP is $79.99, and the spokesperson said it would be shipping in August, 2015. I didn't see it for sale on the web yet as of August 5, 2015, but it should be available soon.

People like puppets. And you'll love these!

Folkmanis Puppets bring smiles to anybody that sees them. They’re so original, cute, and well made, I really fell in love with them the first year I walked by their booth at Toy Fair. There more than just toys as you can see from their website: “Folkmanis believes imagination is the key to a healthy childhood, encouraging play and discovery to develop the skills necessary in life. The company has been making the most innovative and engaging specialty puppets in the world since 1976, delighting imaginations and winning nearly every industry, child development, and kid-tested award. --- This year they've added a few new puppets which you'll see in the video, along with a few of the very popular standard ones. Also over at their website you will only only be able to look through their huge catalog, you can find a retailer near you, and even free mini-scripts so you can put on your own puppet show! Another great thing about Folkmanis Puppets is that they are reasonably priced starting at about $9 for a finger puppet to about $60 for one of their larger puppets.

Chad's Crappy Corner. And we find out his theme for August.

Chad polled our Patreon supporters and for the August theme they selected “gadgets under $10.”

Chad's 1st under $10 gadget is a cheap selfie stick he got from a booth at a convention. Chad can’t find the actual brand of the selfie stick, but not to fear. There's an Amazon link below to several under $10 Selfie sticks! And what does Chad of his Selfie Stick?

Chad's Take: He likes his under $10 Selfie Stick. He has been doing some on-the-street interviews and Chad finds it very useful. Of course he says he's very careful not to extend it all the way out which would put it in other people's way. The version Chad has is wired. That means a wire from the Selfie stick plugs into the headphone jack of your smart phone. This lets you fire the shutter with a button on the Selfie stick that is right near a finger of your hand. Chad said it works well, unless you plan on using an external microphone. An external microphone needs to use the headphone jack, so you can't use both. I also have an under $10 Selfie Stick. It's from Amazon and mine came with a wireless small Bluetooth button device which lets you fire the shutter and on many smart phones, start and stop the video.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How to Submit Your Viewer Video.

A video I made about 5 years ago is relevant again today, because it's seems the Spy Watch I bought all those years ago is back and on sale! It looks like the exact same Spy Watch. If it is, and you want to buy one, read this review first and more importantly, watch the video at the link below.

About 5 years I saw an ad for the Wristwatch Spy cam and I bought one. The watch wasn’t bad looking in the picture and I thought it might be fun to always have a camcorder with me. (Also this was before I had a Smart Watch.) It was about $45 with shipping. Learning how to use it was not very easy. The flimsy little instruction sheet is written in poor English, so you have to play hit and miss as you try to get it to work properly. If you want to set the proper date & time you have to write a mini program and download it to the watch. I never got that to work properly. If you can’t locate where the special USB connector goes, you'll discover you have to unscrew the left stem to find it. And don't lose the supplied USB cable, because it’s probably specific to the Spy Watch. The watch keeps time pretty well, but it turns out the tide function, which I was excited above, is just painted on the dial and doesn’t actually work. It has 4GB of memory and you can’t add more. The video it shoots is okay, but there it a major problem with this watch that no one seems to mention. On the video you record you will also record a VERY LOUD ticking of the watch!!! It pretty much ruins anything you shoot and makes the watch useless as a DVR. Snapshots are okay because there’s no “ticking” to ruin them. The company says the watch has 1.3 mega-pixel high-definition AVI video recording at 30 frames. Oh yeah, the sync between my voice and the video was also terrible. I didn’t bother shooting any JPEGs because I really wanted the watch for video. The internal lithium-ion 3.7v/260 mAh battery charges via the USB cable. The light is supposed to turn steady red when it’s fully charged in a few hours, but I left it plugged in for two days and it never showed as fully charged. Here’s a test I did with the watch. I think you’ll NOTICE the annoying ticking sound.

Ad I received on 8/6/15. Sure seems like the exact same watch:

This is a deal of the day, so by the time you click on it the deal may be over. But just search for Spy Wristwatch and I bet you'll find it.

                                            ***************

We’re looking for more Viewer Videos! We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show, so here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:

I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.

My Favorite Gadget of All Time: Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.

Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll a tiny amount of fame (hopefully), an autographed MAD magazine and a 35-year-old Alfred E. Neuman picture. So that's one more (so-so) reason to send in your video! IMPORTANT: We'll just shower you with praise for your video if you live outside the US or Canada since we can't afford to send stuff outside of those two places. (Thanks for understanding.)

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
