Giz Wiz Show #1774 April 9, 2020 Independent Show #255

Wow! This is our 5th year of Independent Production! (First Giz Wiz show was February 20th, 2006.) Thanks to our wonderful Patreon supporters we're now going into year 15. If it wasn't for our supporters the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/

On with the show with a few gadgets you just might like, one I didn't like, and viewer video from Mo Torres with a gadget perfect for these shut-in days when you want to communicate to family and friends over the Internet. So on with the show!

Need an inexpensive battery-operated work light?

Then meet the Pro-Elec Hanging Work Light. I find that in many situations a work light can be more useful than a flashlight. They light a wider area and you don't have to hold them while you work. The Pro-Elec Hanging workout is a very decent gadget for the price. It has a bright COB LED, (chips on board) which is said to be brighter than some other LED's.  Great for the work shop, emergency use at home, or office this 3W COB LED work light can even be held in place on magnetic surfaces with its own magnet embedded in its flip side. It's said to be 250 lumens and has a single button operation. Thank God, it doesn't have SOS, that I have NEVER used. A 360° swivel hook is also available for versatile mounting. Uses three "AA" batteries (not included). $5.99 for 1 --- $9.99 for 2 as of 4/9/20. I bought two, which makes them just $5 bucks each.  Amazon prices can changes at any time!

Guess Whose Making A Popcorn Maker?

When I saw the Collapsible Microwave Popcorn Maker, I could hardly believe it was made by Cuisinart, a very famous name in better-made cookware. Here's what the company says about it: Cuisinart has an easier, healthier way to make fresh crisp popcorn in the microwave. Our pop and serve popcorn maker silicone bowl pops kernels without needing any oil for a lighter healthier snack. Add your own flavorings like butter, salt, or spices, or leave as is for a healthy snack that’s ready to serve right from the bowl! The silicone bowl is easy to clean and collapses for convenient storage. Fun to use and easy to clean.

And The Giz Wiz says: After I bought this I thought I had to buy some popcorn to try it out. But wait, I only buy popcorn that pops in the bag. So why did I buy this thing?? Oh, yeah, I bought it for the Giz Wiz Show. I paid about $13 on Amazon. On 4/9/20 it was less than $9.00. After seeing this in person, I don't like mine. Even if I wasn't going to use it for popcorn, I was going to keep as a neat collapsible bowl. Except as you'll see in the video, it doesn't collapse the way it's support to. Worse, you can't return it on Amazon. When I tried to return it, it says contact Cuisinart and the only other option is “return to shopping”.

A Chad Extra Which Means A Not So Crappy Gadget.

Chad finds the Tea Bag Buddy. What is it? Here's how one company describes it: An Innovative Tea Item That Solves the Tea Drinker’s Most Common Problems. Conveniently secures tea bag string while covering the mouth of teapot or mug. Traps steam to keep tea hotter when brewing for optimal flavor and temperature. 100% silicone keeps your fingers cool while squeezing excess water and flavor from tea bag. Deep wells provide a convenient way to hold the used tea bag between uses. Dishwasher and microwave safe.

And Chad's take?Chad liked this device. It's inexpensive and as you'll see in Chad's demo on this week's show, it does everything in the description above. If you like tea made with tea bags be sure to check out Chad's full report on this device. Chad paid $6.35 for his, but there are lots of prices for it online.

Chad's Crappy Corner & his second gadget for his new April Theme.

Chad's his new 'Cheap Gadgets Theme For April' picked by our loyal Patreons. It's “Fresh Take On Older Gadgets”. And Chad's 1st gadget for April is the My Arcade Ms. Pacman game.

Here's what the company says about it: The Ms. Pac-Man Pocket Player is one of many collectible handheld game consoles by My Arcade. A timeless classic, Ms. Pac-Man was originally created to pay homage to female gamers that helped make the original Pac-Man a success. The queen of gaming has since gone on to be a smash hit on her own, being dubbed the most successful arcade game of 1982. Fully playable and perfect for fans of retro gaming, Pocket Players feature 2.75 inch full color displays, front facing speakers with volume controls, and headphone jacks. They are powered via micro USB or 4 AAA batteries, which are not included. There are five versions of this game, each with 3 different games.

And Chad's take? Chad liked his pocket game a lot. He said the build quality was solid, it could be powered by batteries or USB, it had a headphone jack, and a really decent quality screen. You'll see and hear more about it in this week's show as Chad's play games with it. Chad paid $31 for his. Online they range from about $29 to $35.00.

Dick's Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video & Get An Autographed MAD Magazine!

Our video this week if from our most loyal fan and contributor, Mo Torres.

Hi guys. Hope all is well.

I just realized that Web Cams are as hard too find as toilet paper. Many friends have called me too ask about purchasing a web cam, and when doing research, I could not find any for sale. I pre-buy certain things, web cams & toilet paper are items that i have more than one of. I buy toilet paper by the box, & i always purchase two webcams of the same kind.

This webcam is one of the ones I have been using for face time, Skype, and now zoom. On windows 8 & 10, its plug & play, no idea about MAC OS. Take a look: YouTube: https://youtu.be/gvK-3jvQ9pA

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up
hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
