Dick Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video & Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.

Before I bought that eyeglass repair kit on Amazon (above) to fix my eyeglasses, I spend hours looking for another eyeglass repair kit I had from years ago. I couldn't even remember the name of it, so I bought the one I talked about earlier in this show. Then right after I fixed my glasses I was looking in a box from Dick's Gadget warehouse and there it was - the Snapit eyeglass repair kit! It's billed as the easiest and quickest way to repair your spectacles. (Actually, it is a very clever idea.) You simply drop the extra long screw in the hinge, screw it down and snap the end off. The screw is very long, so it's easy to do. You'll see how it's down in the company video that's on this week's show. I picked this as my warehouse video, because I met the inventor ten years ago! I believe it is the lady in the video. She told me she spent $250,000 to get her product to market. Surprise! It's still available online. The kit come packaged in a little tube. The tube includes 5 screws of varying lengths and thicknesses, plus a handy screwdriver. They say it will fit 99% of all glasses, reading glasses and sunglasses. So now you have another option to fix broken glasses if it's a screw problem. And they're both under $10.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
    -
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
    -
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
    -
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
    -
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Derek Murray writes:  Hey Dick and Chad,

Watching this weeks show (Episode 1782) And the Scenespin gadget reminded me of a kickstarter. I backed on Kickstarter about 5 years ago, a gadget called the Bubblepod, which was a clockwork 360 degrees doohicky which with an app (which was next to useless) you could take 360 video or panoramas, which you could mount on a tripod or on top of a wine bottle.

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1218595273/bubblepod-professional-360o-images-in-less-than-a-0
I did receive the item, but it was garage, if you recorded video, the phone's microphone would pick up the vibration of the clockwork unwinding.  And the App would constantly crash, it was only £15 at the time, but that Scenespin looks like it could do a great job for a fraction of the price.

Great show as always, Stay safe

Big News! The Giz Wiz gets totally ripped off on Amazon! It started when I saw a discount code of $42 for a yoga mat in an email from from one of great deal newsletters I subscribe to. This discount code was good for a yoga mat at Amazon. Excerpts from their Amazon ad sounded good: Thick High Density Anti-Skid Yoga Mat Exercise Pad. Workout Mat for All Types of Yoga, Pilates, Stretching, Meditation & FloorActual size: 24" X 10.8" Exercise. HEAVY DUTY: High density foaming material, strong structure, heavy duty workout design. durable mat for men / women home gym high intensity workout or health loose weight yoga! Our yoga mats are guaranteed to provide the optimal level of cushion and protection for your joints and knees while still allowing you to grip the floor for balance. Premium exercise mat, best suitable to practice many forms of Yoga. Regular price $52.50. I applied the discount code from from Bradsdeals and the final price $10.50. Free Shipping...not Amazon Prime.. Fullfilled by HighlifeS, not Amazon. Wait until you see what they sent me! I know $10.50 is a ridiculous price for yoga mat, but I thought maybe they had a warehouse full and wanted to clear them out. Big mistake on my part. I should have known the old “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”

Amazon link: (BEWARE!!) https://amzn.to/2XWxROm  (The Yoga mat is more the size of a place mat - about 24" X 11"! And as of 6/6/20 it's still on Amazon. Remember this is a rip-off! You'll be sorry if you purchase it.

Meet the LED Emergency Flare Magnetic Safety Light with 10 Modes!

Here's a super bright LED light that can be used to illuminate & to alert others if you're car breaks down, or for other emergencies. One button triggers the 9 red flashing modes (I don't why you would need that many) and the one steady white LED light. The device contains 18 LED's! 6 White LED and 12 Red LED bulbs. It uses (3) AAA batteries which are not included. The company says it's water & weather resistant and it does feel like it's well built. In the back there's a retractable hook for hanging any place you want a bright white light, but it can also be used to stand the unit up. Standing this up on a road and is safer than lighted flares. You can use the white light to illuminate your engine in car break downs, or use it at night for changing a tire. It's also great in a room in case of a power outage. For camping it could hangs in tent for 360 degree white light. Be aware there is no high/low for the white LED light which is quite bright. Although the company says you can hook it on belt loop for walking dog or night strolls, I don't think it's ideal for that. And although the description says a carry bag is included, mine did not have one. But, they were very inexpensive, 2 for $10.00! I bought mine at Deal Genius, link below. They were still available as of 6/6/2020.

Ever hear of a gadget called "SceneSpin"?

Who ever knew such a device was around. I didn't and it turns out Chad didn't either. The SceneSpin is a handy device that makes taking panoramic pictures as easy as pressing a button. The company says it's designed to fit almost every smartphone, even the large iPhone 8 with a case. A simple adjustable tab lets you lock in your phone and adjust the angle of how it sits. You can even use this with a tablet as long as you place it on its side for horizontal mode. And you don't even need batteries for this to work. Just turn the top counter-clock wise until you hear a click. Then press the button for smooth, steady pan as your device rotates 270 degrees. In my video, I use the SceneSpin with my LG G7 phone in video mode. You'll see the results in the video below or within this week's show. The compact size makes this device a convenient portable phone holder for watching video when you travel. MSRP is $12.99, but I got mine at PulseTV.com for $3.00, or even better at 2 for $4.00. Chad said he was going to buy a few for stocking stuffers this coming holiday season. That price was still available 6/6/20.

Chad's Crappy Corner & His New Cheap Gadget Theme For June.

Chad polled our loyal patreon members and their pick for June's Chad Crappy Corner is

Summertime gadgets!   (It's June, summer is on the way.)

Chad's first summertime gadget is the Geckobrands Waterproof Phone Tote. Here's what Amazon says about it: Stay worry free when you take your smartphone, wallet, license, keys or other small valuables out on the water and nearly everywhere you go. This bag’s closure system ensures nothing gets in and with the clear screen you can still talk, text, take selfies, and more.

And Chad's take: Chad liked this a lot. He thought it was well made and liked the clear phone window that let him use phone with it in the phone tote. You can hear all of Chad's thoughts when you watch this week's show. Chad bought his at an Academy Store for about $20.00. It was a couple of bucks more on Amazon.
