Dick Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video & Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.

Our email of the week is from a long-time fan Jeffrey Slomovitz. At first I thought this was a video Jeff made himself, but it's not. We decided to still use it and send Jeff a MAD for finding it. It's an interesting update on the VW vinyl record player Chad found last month for his “mimic gadgets” month theme.

    Here's Jeff's email:

    Subject: Rokblok portable record player

    Good Evening Sir,

I watched your last show where Chad showed the VW record player bus. I remember a few years ago a new updated version was highlighted on Shark Tank. In fact one of the Sharks not only invested in the company, he bought the entire company. It is called the “Rokblok” and the biggest difference is - it does have an internal speaker, but it is also Bluetooth.

I included the link below. Thank you, Jeff

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up
hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
    -
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
    -
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
    -
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
    -
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

    Email of the week:

This week's email is from Ryan Knopp and it's a bit of info about the Butter spreader from last show. It is the Cuisinart Stainless Steel Butter Wheel: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M6ZVKJR/?tag=097-20&ascsubtag=v7_3_3_2q15_5e98_0_x01_-srt1

Ryan's Message: When I worked in fast food during high school 22 yrs ago we had that same thing. You can butter biscuits and bread and things very fast. Not sure if it's needed at home though.

From the Giz Wiz. I guess that old clique 'everything old is new again' is true!

Another Very Interesting Virtual Press Event.

At Techfluence I met the OHMNI TELEPRESENCE ROBOT

I 'piloted' one of these robots at the virtual booth, but I did a rather poor job, mostly seeing the ceiling of the company headquarters. But here's how the company describes their robot: Telepresence made easy. The Ohmni telepresence robot lets you be anywhere in the world in just one click. The new Ohmni Robot contains the highest resolution camera available (13MP) in a telepresence robot. The human-centric Ohmni Robot provides connection and support to anyone, from anywhere in the world. Communicate in any environment -- home, school, work, healthcare facility, museum, factory and more -- in just one click. Designed and built in Silicon Valley. Here are some specs of the Ohmni Robot from the company. 4K camera w/ 13-megapixel Snapshot and Superzoom capabilities. 10.1" HD IPS touchscreen. Fast and Sharp HD video streaming. 95Wh LiFePO4 battery (6+ hrs). Ohmni Charging Dock (100-240V compatible, 50/60Hz). CA.OHMNI Robot base price: $2195.00. I can add that the robot weights just 22 pounds, folds in half, and with the push of button it will go back to its charging station for a power fill-up.

Meet zSpace - a combination of augmented and virtual reality.

The demo for this was something quite different from most school videos. Be sure to watch this week's show to see students lift images off a computer screen and examine them in 3D! (But listen to Chad's comments because he thinks it probably doesn't work quite this well in real life.) There are two zSpace devices; an AIO (All In One Computer) and a Laptop version. School can use the AIO (All In One) device as a demonstration station or for small group instruction, while laptops are more for personalized learning for students. The market for zSpace is mainly for schools, businesses, professionals building 3D models, etc. They have a software tailored for many specialized industries. I asked for a ballpark $ figure for the two zSpace device and Joe Parlier, Sr. Director, zSpace Education Solutions said the laptop is about $1800 and the AIO, with a 24” screen is about $4400. There is a lot of info and tech specs at the company website, as well as many videos.

From Five Below "Room 2 Room LED Gold Clip Lights."

From time to time it's fun to head over to the Five Below warehouse where you're pretty sure to find some fun gadgets for, well, for $5. When I bought the Room 2 Room LED Gold Clip Lights I wasn't sure I needed LED's as Five Below says to “shed some light on your pics & artwork! These gold clip string lights are a super cute way to hang your stuff.” Now that I have them, I found a couple of great uses them. One of them you'll see in this week's show along with other possible uses for the 10 gold clips + 10 led lights on a 6' wire. They requires 2 aa batteries which are not included, and they are for indoor use only! And of course, they were $5. (There is $5 shipping, but that includes shipping for everything in your order.)

Crappy Corner and his final gadget for his Cheap Gadget Theme for September: Mimic Gadgets.

Chad's final “mimic” gadget (Things that look like on thing, but do something different) is the Dofover 2 Pack Creative Lotus Cotton Swab Holder Q-Tips Toothpicks Holder Table Decorate Cotton Bud Storage Box Organizer.

From the company - we didn't correct any of the grammar: Made of high quality of ABS plastic and PET , broken-resistant, safe and no smell. 3.3"H x 3.1"dia.(Q-tips NOT INCLUDE) Build-in three size petals, detachable freely according size of capacity. Suitable for hold cotton swabs and toothpick, keeps them tidy and clean.

And Chad's take: At first Chad wasn't sure if this gadget was good, or crappy. But as you'll see after he unboxed and followed the instructions it turned out to be 'pretty clever'. I'll won't spoil the surprise since it's in the name of the gadget on Amazon, but it does look like it can disguise your Q-tips or cotton swabs and keep the organized and clean at the same time. And it's inexpensive at two for under $9. (As of 9/25/20) Available in many color combinations.

    2/ under $9.00 https://amzn.to/2RZtWOh
