Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.

Yes! A first time warehouse video from long time Giz Wiz fan, Paul Koerber. And the kind we really love. A 30-year old gadget that still works! You'll see it in action is Paul's video.

    Hello Dick and Chad,

Here is my first Gadget Warehouse video.

This is my gadget for warming hot dogs and buns. I saw your reviews of the "Nostalgia Retro Pop-up Hot  Dog Toaster" (episodes 1376 and 1738) and I knew I had something better:

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
    -
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
    -
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
    -
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
    -
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

    Email of the week!

    Hi Dick
I don't know if this actually qualifies as a gadget, but it is a lot of fun, especially if you love radio like I do.

There is an app called Radio Garden which, when you open it up, "seeds" a globe with thousands of green dots. Each dot represents a radio station, and when you move your cursor over the dot, the station starts to play. You can spin the globe and select stations from anywhere in the world...it's amazing to listen to stations, for example, in the outer reaches of Alaska, or on remote pacific islands, or to relive past memories by listening to stations broadcasting from places you have visited. If you zoom in completely, you even get a true aerial view of the location. You can also type in a location and the globe spins to that location and shows the stations there. It's a lot of fun, and as a side benefit it has made me aware of countries I did not even know existed!

Love your show, keep well! Gary Spadoni

(From The Giz Wiz. You try it yourself by just typing 'RadioGarden' in Google.)

Show #1871 For Week of Feb 17th 2021 Independent Show 347

AMAZING!! This Month, We start year 17 of The Giz Wiz Show!

(The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006!) If it wasn't for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you'd like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/

To celebrate the start of year 17, we can use the....

Joguly Party Light! Instantly Fill A Room With Moving Images!

Okay, the brand name you most likely never heard of, but it doesn't matter. I love this: Joguly Party Light, Stage Light ,Laser Light. It's a Disco DJ Laser Light with RGB & UV LED, Remote Control, Sound Activated Strobe for Birthday, Family Party, Dance, Wedding, etc. With a built in rechargeable battery the laser light can operate for 6~7 hours. (Both led and laser lights for 6 hours, only led shinning or laser lighting for 7 hours). Now the company says you can take the party light and have a party anytime. I'll add, and anywhere. In the video you'll see the result when I took my Party Light down to Riverside Park. There are 128 patterns according to the company. I didn't count them, but I'm impressed! And it only uses 6 watts. Comes with a USB cable with a pin connector into the back of the party light. It says “AC adpater”, but there wasn't one with my unit. Didn't matter, I have a bunch of those AC to USB plugs around Gizneyland. Battery capacity: 4400mAh. Charging time: 4-6 hours. Working time: 6-7 hours. Play modes: auto play, voice control and remote control. The remote control also has a built in timer. I paid $45.99 and it was still that price on 2/19/22, but it could change at any time.

Have a lot of AC gadgets to plug in near your desk, or in your workshop?

This Superdanny Power Strip has 22 outlets, plus 6 USB ports! It's rated at 15A/1875W. It's FCC, RoHS safety certified, extension cord and flat plug certified by UL. Did you notice that the “UL” applies to the cord and plug only. Because of that I was not going to buy this. But I wanted to see it in person after I saw it got 4.9 out of 5 stars from 432 ratings. I read that the FCC rating indicates that an electronic item is approved for use in the US because it was made without certain hazardous chemicals. So that doesn't apply to the electronics. Superdanny says their built-in smart charging technology detects your devices automatically and deliver the fastest possible charge up to 5V/2.4A per port. Also listed is 2100 Jewel surge protection, overload protection, grounded protection, short-circuit protection, over-voltage protection, and over-heating protection. (But obviously, NO OVER-HYPE protection.) I paid $39.99 for the mine on Amazon.

Are Pop Fidget Toys Still Around?

Well, if you search on Amazon you'll find they are! The most involved Pop Fidget thing I fouind there was the Milestar Pop Purse Fidget Toys Series 3 Pack ( Pop Handbag + Pop Pencil Case + Pop Coin purse with Keychain ) Here's something I never heard of Pop It Fidgets Toys I never heard before from the company, Milestar. We have designed a variety of pop series toys. They are designed and made by professional children’s toy experts. Suitable for all ages. (Not sure why Amazon says for 'Girls 12-14'.) (And this I also don't understand:) Thinking challenge, multiple game play, simple rules and easy to use. Can exercise logic ability, concentration ability, thinking ability, planning ability, overall calculation ability.

From the Giz Wiz: There are no game instructions in any of the 3 items, or in the bag, or on the bag they come in, so how you use them to teach or learn all the abilities listed is a puzzle to me. I paid $39.99 for the kit of 3 items.

    Chad's Crappy Corner!

Chad's Crappy Corner and his 3rd gadgets for his February Cheap Gadget Theme, as picked by our loyal Patreons! They picked: “Cheap versions of expensive gadgets!” On this week's show, we find out Chad's 3rd 'cheap version of an expensive gadget' is the ION Mug.

First some info via Walmart: Coffee, tea, or any hot beverages are best enjoyed at your own leisure. The ionMug helps you do that by keeping your drinks at the perfect temperature all day from its charging coaster. Once charged, the mug is designed to hold its temperature for up to 3 hours, so no more racing against the heat of your drink and no more turning to the microwave for reheating. With multiple temperatures, an auto shut off feature, a spill-proof warming lid, and more—the ionMug is your go to cup for any hot beverage.

And Chad's take: Chad like this. As you'll on this week's show Chad took the termperature of the coffee in the cup, waited an hour and checked the temperature again. He had the mug set for one of 3 adjustable temperature levels: 135°F, 140°F, or 145°F. Chad had set it for 145F and an hour later the temperature was within 2 degrees of that, which we all thought was pretty good. Chad was a bit disappointed in the capacity of the cup. He explains why in his test video on the show. Chad also wondered about cleaning the mug. All the instructions say is: “the ionMug can easily be cleaned under running water.” Chad paid $39.95 at his local Walmart. It's way more expensive on Amazon and the reviews there were tepid.
