One more gadget from the Live Pepcom Event Right Here in NYC!

Someone in chatroom --- what was Kodak showing --- is there a Kodak?

Do You Have Precious Old 8mm or Super 8 films You Would Like to View & Save?
Jun 26, 2022

The KODAK REELZ 8mm & Super 8 Films Digitizer Converter can be the answer you’re looking for. I wish I had this several years ago when I was converting my old, old 8mm films to digital form. A ton of years ago I kept an 8mm film camera in the prop room at the NBC studio where we recorded The Match Game. (I wrote the questions for the NY version of that show.) Sometimes I would ask friending, out-going celebrities who appeared on Match Game to do silly :30 to :45 second scenes for a musical satire movie I was making. I ended up with a wonderful 40 minute 8mm movie! I needed to have that movies and others I have transferred to a digital medium before something happened to them since they are totally irreplaceable! I did get a professional lab to do that, but if I had the Kodak Reelz I wouldn’t have worried about the precious film being sent away. This device converts old 8mm & Super 8mm films to digital MP4 files for viewing, sharing & saving on an SD Card. It works with the old 3” 4” 5” & 7” 8mm/Super 8mm reels. Everything is done within the device, no computer or software needed. The fully automated scanner with 8.08-Megapixel sensor captures images in 1080p digital video files. (Of course, there’s no sound, it’s the old 8/Super8 film.) You can use the included micro USB cable to transfer scans to computer, laptop, or smart TV for big-screen viewing. There are a few scanning & editing options via on the 5” built-in LCD Interface. Buttons allow you to zoom, chose film type & adjust exposure, sharpness & tint without the need for external editing equipment. MSRP: $299.99. At Pepcom the spokesperson said a new model is in the works with will take 9” reels and will have a sound option. She did not have a date when they would be available.

A Chad Extra!

Chad shows a weird gadget I and most everyone in the chatroom never saw before.

It's the Chipstiick. Here's info from Amazon: Chipstiick will allow you to savor your chips while playing video games, working on your computer, scrolling through your phone, and going about your day! Enjoy a chip-powder-and-grease-free snacking experience! Convert to a cleaner, safer way of snacking by using chipstiicks rather than your bare hands. Rest easy knowing that you no longer have to go through the trouble of wiping or washing your hands to free of chip powder anymore. Don't worry if you do not know how to use chopsticks! Chipstiicks are designed so that anyone, no matter your skill in using chopsticks, can be easily used! Made of quality ASB material.

And Chad's take? Chad likes this a lot. He does point out you can't pick up a bunch of say popcorn at one time, but that might be a good thing. It can act like 'portion control if you're on a diet. Watch Chad's complete demo on this week's show. It was way under his theme of $20 & under at $12.99.

Build & Bake Your Own Hot Sandwich Right On Your Countertop!

This gadget has always intriged me and I wondered: "Does it really work?" Finally, I figured the only way to find out was to buy the Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker and see how it works.

First here's some info from Amazon. This sandwich maker cooks your breakfast, lunch, or dinner sandwich in just minutes. Perfect for brunch or a quick, healthy meal on the go. Customize your sandwich with your choice of bread, cheese, eggs, meats, and much more. Eliminate the bread and these are great for Keto and Paleo diets too. Explore more than 25 sandwich maker recipes on our website. Building your breakfast sandwich comes together in just a few steps with a breakfast maker and it's easy clean up with nonstick coating. I bought one and made my 1st breakfast sandwich right on camera.

And how did making a breakfast sandwich with it turn out? Just watch this week's show! I make my 1st breakfast sandwich with the video camera watching. MSRP: $29.99. I paid a bit less on Amazon.

Chad's cheap them for July as picked by our loyal Patreons is "Gadgets Under $20".

Chad's 2nd under $20 gadget is the DELONIAL Book Page Holder with 5 Adjustable Rings.

Looking at the photo I bet you never would have guessed what that gadget was for. Here's some info from Amazon: Handmade Natural Walnut Thumb Bookmark to Keep Book Open With One Hand. The Delonial Book page holder helps you read your favourite book, holding the pages wide open, so you still have a free hand for a coffee. It comes with 5 silicone rings for you to choose from to fit your thumb. Simply choose a ring that fits your thumb, slide it in on the wooden book page holder and pick up your book. The silicone ring helps it stay on your thumb without slipping out, making reading more comfortable. The box is specially design to give you easy access to the page holder and the 5 rings.

And Chad's take? Chad like this gadget and thought it would be good for people who read a lot of books. He noted that it really works best on hard cover books. He pointed out that there are lot of gadgets in this category on Amazon, but this set contains the 5 sizing rings and is one of the least expensive sets at just $10.99.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.

Something Different this week, the letter before Dick's Gadget Warehouse.

The letter: Ted Litke email us:

I love your gadget reviews, some most make me laugh, but I have bought a few.

Found this in an email, and I immediately thought of you. Have you ever seen an electric squeegee?

https://www.whateverworks.com/itemdy00.aspx?srccode=NXMKAS&utm_source=4cite&utm_medium=ebemail&utm_campaign=ABB1A&cm_campaign=0000056101&sv_deid=29255992901_835460101&sv_sveme=0f68009d3aec8097c71d340f3b5d2260&sv_svemc=VzKPiJx7pFKJfPPFmY6QTVEVGd41RdcnffH5rzjxdeD3wxuNUqzayrvNRbOXZe4O&T1=KD2056&rec4c_uuid=eb63a214-9c29-4110-90f9-5408b9126cb8

And now the gadget warehouse part, let's go back 8 years to answer Ted's question: “Have I ever seen an electric squeegee?”

Dick's video answer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIBtdSwsuw0

At the time, Karcher PowerSqueege was said to be the world's first lithium-ion cordless window and flat surface wet vac. The Karcher WV50 PowerSqueegee does help reduce the time, labor, and mess. Simply spray the cleaning solution of choice, turn the vacuum on, and run the blades along the surface -- it's that easy.

It seems you can longer buy the PowerSqueegee alone, but it is available in various Karcher kits.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here's what we're looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won't get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, "family friendly" language applies.
-
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can't market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it's a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
-
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don't have a warehouse. It doesn't matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you're still hanging on to it.
-
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
-
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We'll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that's unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you'll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it's a copy. We've tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you'll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
