With summer coming you'll want to protect your pet from the dangers of the heat. TempAlert can help. Your dog's normal body temperature is 100.5 to 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. If it rises to 105 or 106 degrees, the dog is at risk for developing heat exhaustion. If the body temperature rises to 107 degrees, your dog has entered the dangerous zone of heat stroke. With heat stroke, irreversible damage and death can occur. Unlike humans, dogs cannot sweat easily to cool down. That means a dog exercising on a hot, humid day, even with plenty of water, can become overheated, which can lead to heat stroke. TempAlert is a small harness for your dog which has an icon that changes from a dark color to the word "ALERT" when it’s too hot for the pet. That's when you know it’s time to get them water and move them to a cooler place. It will be introduced at Petco next month. (MAY). Price under $25.
