Not a total piece of crap, but a big disappointment.

I love my Samsung Galaxy III cell phone. But I find like most other high-end smart phones, you have to remember to recharge it every night. So when I saw an ad for a super high capacity compatible Galaxy III battery on the Cell Phone Shop website, it looked like a sure-fire useful bargain. Here’s the ad copy:
Battery Compatible with Samsung Galaxy S III.
Capacity : 3500mAH, 3.7V
Talk time : up to 140 minutes
Standby time : up to 70 hours
Provides longer talk time and standby time than standard batteries.
Gives your phone the power to keep on fulfilling your communication needs.
Perfect as a handy extra or replacement battery.
Comes with a black extended battery cover to accommodate the extended battery (replaces the original battery door). Regularly $59.99. The sale price: $9.99 + $4.95 S & H
When my battery arrived I charged with an external charger overnight which brought it up to 96%, not 100%. I put it in the phone and clicked on the included new back plate. The battery is about twice as think as the original one, so you can’t use your original Galaxy III back plate. The included back plate is black, which is fine for me. The Galaxy worked fine, but I find the new battery won’t recharge using the phones USB cable. Even when it’s plugged into the computer and the AC charging icon showing, the battery does not charge. So having to charge it in an external charger isn’t very useful, because I wanted the extra power battery for travel. To do that, I’d have to start carrying an external charger, which I don’t want to do. So unless the battery I have is a lemon, I’d pass on this one. I have had good luck with other batteries from this website, though.
