LifeProof makes rugged cases for iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads. One of their newest is the nüüd Case for iPad. The company says this one is water, dirt, snow and shock proof, but the big feature is the ‘totally naked’ iPad screen. Unlike any other case on the market, LifeProof nüüd’s naked screen technology places nothing between you and your iPad screen. That means you get the same visual clarity and touch experience you get when your iPad isn’t in a case. A spokesman said other waterproof screens ‘dampen’ the touch screen experience with a protective overlay, which also degrades the iPad screen images. He also pointed out that the nüüd uses a crystal clear glass over the iPad photo lens, not plastic as some others use. So if you take you iPad outdoors, to the pool, or work in emergency services, or are in the military and need to use it in adverse conditions, the LifeProof nüüd case is worth checking out. Here are some tech specs from LifeProof: Water proof: Submergible to 6.6 feet. Dirt proof: Sealed from dirt and minute dust particles to IP-68, the highest international protection rating. Snow proof: Enclosed to keep out all melting snow, water and ice. Shock proof: Designed to Military Specifications to withstand drops from four feet. Fully functional: Every feature of the iPad is fully accessible and functional, including the volume controls, silent / screen lock, sleep button, home button and access to the charge and sync connector port. Enhanced sound: Large speaker ports get the most out of music and movies using the LifeProof Sound Enhancement System. And now back to me! Right now this case is only available at Best Buy and at the company website. At both places, the nüüd is $149.99. There’s an optional cover/stand that sells for $29.99. However, at the Lifeproof website only you can get he nüüd and the stand/cover for $159.99. That combo would be $20 more at Best Buy. There is a nüüd Life Jacket coming in a month or so that will let you float your iPad.
