Leo's "Crap From The Sky Mall Catalog!" Pick Of The Week!

The StrawPoll choice for this week’s “Crap from the Sky Mall Catalog’ was the

SEALSHIELD Protective Covering for iPad. I’ve covered other Seal Shield products, and even washed one of their waterproof keyboards in my dishwater. It worked fine afterwards. But now Leo was going to risk submerging an iPad into water with a Seal Shield plastic sleeve. The company says it’s safe for use around the kitchen sink, bathtub, pool, or spa. And unlike the nuud case above it costs $29.95, not $159.99. When Leo opened the box he found a simple slip-on flexible plastic sleeve, two pieces of sealing tape, and two ‘water leakage’ testers. Leo stretched the plastic sleeve over the iPad and sealed with one of the two strips of tape. The Seal Shield makes an iPad2 or new iPad3 waterproof without the use of a heavy-duty case. Seal Shield says you might even forget it’s  on your iPad, but I doubt that. But. After a dunking and sitting in the water for about 10 to 15 minutes, the iPad turned on and worked fine! It was totally protected! Unlike the nuud case above however, you can use the headphone jack and you may have to replace the Seal Shield after some extended use. It’s made of a high-grade durable plastic shield. Even though the company says it slips on and off in seconds, I’d say make that a couple of minutes. It’s meets IP-68 Waterproof standards and allows for the use of camera and video under water. A kit is also available for the iPhone 4/4S. I assume a iPhone 5 version is in the works. $29.99, plus S & H.
