The Giz Wiz Asks You! > What TV ads do you find stupid, weird, or disgusting?

The Dannon Light & Fit ad is a real turn off for me. In a brightly lit supermarket a young woman picks up a Dannon Light & Fit, and then sucks the contents out the container without using her hands. Then she lets the container fall out of her mouth onto the floor or into the cart while she wipes her face. Ugh. Does she also suck some of the contents out of other flavors to "taste test" them. No Light & Fit for me. Also notice how the containers are getting smaller & smaller. No wonder they're reduced in calories. They're reduced in size!

Please share your TV commercial thoughts.

The PC ads where they challenge people to find a PC under $1000.

I personally find the rantings of Billy Mays and that ShamWow guy annoying, to the point of violent thoughts. I refuse to use anything that either of them pitch. Yeah it's a Sham... Wow look we took your money - it's a shammy for Pete's sake, not the cure for cancer!

I can't stand the commercial w/ Billy Mays in it. I refuse to buy a product where the commercial has a guy yelling at me.

We have a running joke at work with Billy Mays. We can be discussing anything, and we just drop in part of that OxyClean commercial.

    In a BIlly Mays voice:
"Make a paste, Make it ten times as powerful"

Make sure "powerful" is pronounced "Pare-ah-foh". ;)

The latest series of Comcast ads really piss me off. Pastel-colored, cutesy-animated, they croon their little singsong jingle touting the wonders of a world filled with Comcast-y goodness makes me want to violently vomit. They are an insult to any entity with more than 2 brain cells.

"I need to cath' ..." ad meets all of the above.

I find the Arby's one with the two guys running towards each other in slow motion disturbing for some reason. Or perhaps the one with the pizza or sub shop with the entree talking to the "chef" saying something like, "Put it in slowly" or something like that. I'm not a prude, but (and here's where I prove myself wrong?) I don't like my commercials overly sexual. I want to buy ordinary things without thinking of double entendres.

Every time they run one of those where somebody gargles, I hit the remote.

Any food commercial where manners don't count...generally all Carl's...disrespectful, gross, and certainly don't make me want to ever buy the food!

Any drug ad where the side-effects are worse than the malady or if the number of words in the disclaimer
is more than 50% of the entire words spoken in the ad. Hmmm, that's all of the TV drug ads.

How about the Life Lock one where the client, Matthew Dobbard (excuse spelling), states that his identity was stolen "FROM" another police officer. Doesn't anybody proof read their scripts??

I can't stand the "male enhancement" ads that seem to be always on every time I flip the channel.

Between Tivo, Netflix, Roku, and downloaded content, I hardly watch any commercials. Any time someone tries to start a conversation about one I plead ignorance. I don't have an excuse for my ignorance about everything else.

How dumb do they think we are? I watched a TV Commercial for a Automatic Liquid Hand Soap Dispenser ! It is supposed to be more sanitary because you don't have to touch the pump and get bacteria on your hand. Ahh.... We do wash our hands after we pump the soap onto our hands....right???

All those prescription drug ads that undermine years of human toil in advancing human medical knowledge with 30 second public relations images that never show images of the side effects that make up 75% of the ad time audio. Madison avenue doesn't know you, your doctor does.
